Commentaire à la une
After reviewing a few Deep Vision movies, I decided to give my 2 cents on this one. Originally titled "Black Lolita", this movie bombed at the box office and was quickly re-edited with new softcore sex scenes as Wildcat Women (a Charlie's Angels meets Shaft ripoff). Like the other review says, the DVD cut doesn't make much sense.
I saw a faded (almost black and white) and scratched 35mm print of this movie recently and I must say it's quite different in theaters. The confusing thing about the Pathfinder DVDs of the Deep Vision movies is that not only did they trim the sex for the "Unrated Director's Cut", they also cut out parts of the plot (even though they aren't explicit) and they moved scenes around. This movie is a lot of fun because of the car chases, shootouts, and bizarre sex.
I talked to the director and he said this movie was originally edited pretty fast - so fast that he had to re-do the soundtrack (which is pretty good including the theme song). The story is about a girl named Lolita who seeks out revenge on the Buddha - a mob boss who kills her uncle for not paying protection fees. On the DVD cut, there are some parts that don't make sense - such as characters that randomly appear, but you kind of have to roll with it.
As I mention in some of my other reviews this movie was shot by Steve Gibson using his own 3D lens, very little money, and very little production help making it - so don't expect it to look like some big Hollywood movie.
This movie is a lot of fun to watch after a few beers with some friends over. It's a lot of fun to heckle and make wise crack jokes at. The DVD is since out of print, but if you can find it, definitely pick it up. Especially if you are a Mystery Science Theater 3000 Fan. Too bad they didn't get their hands on this one or they would have had a field day!
