Anecdotes
The work on the short film "Cydonias Lächeln" began as a fun project, when Undine Roßner and Erik Wiesbaum decided to take part on the 99-hour-short film contest "99 Fire Films" in 2012. They never had done an animated short film before and knew they wouldn't win anything but the experience. So the first version of "Cydonias Lächeln" was born as a 99 seconds spot named "Put a Smile on that Face". One year later the directors decided to work again on the film and created new shots to fill the story with content. The new version was shown in a local theatre in the city of production on the 21rst of December 2013. Now the film had it's new title "Cydonias Lächeln" that appeared in the introducing text sequence. After that nothing happened for two more years. In 2015 Undine Roßner and Erik Wiesbaum went back to the project to finish their work on some animated scenes, the sound design and the score. After those final corrections and changes the final version of the film was shown at the short film festival "Shorts at Moonlight" on the 29th of July 2016 in Frankfurt, Germany.
