Le Christ aveugle

I do not hide - I like it. Very much.

First , for atmosphere and cinematography, for fair portrait of rural Chile .

Second - for acting. And, in same measure, for the embroidery of stories , for perspective about religion, for profound inspired final, for crumbs of classic paintings , for the touch of a Bunuel or Pasolini, for NT atmosphere, for the effort of actors and the vision of director.

A young man, fixing the lost of faith of his father after the death of wife, grace an exercise of childhood, has the certitude about a very personal relation with God. When understands about the bad state of his childhood friend, Michael, the main character, decides to heal him. A long travel, few people, a brocken statue in a cave and brutal reaction of believers, a boy and a venerable lady, the om of boy and the guardian of a church abandoned by its priest and an exercise of humility near the first miracle of Savior told by church guardian.

In short, a film wh I like.

A very slow moving movie that does rely on the mood it delivers and on suspense that is created by not giving the viewer too many answers. On the other hand I would understand if some wouldn't even have any questions to begin with. You have to let yourself go with this one. You have to be a real believer if you allow the pun.

Having said that, the movie is not really bad at all. The setting is good enough and the cinematography works for the movie too. The acting is ok, although there is not much to see and as with the pace some may feel it is a bit of a drag overall. So if you can limit your prohibitions and can overlook some of the flaws, you may very well be able to enjoy this

The synopsis delivers more than it should, the film is beautifully poetic, about prophecy and faith, the journey of the young "Messiah", his beautiful parables, the dry and sad scenery, the poverty of people and souls, recovery of faith and hope, so necessary for human endurance and existence, raw, real and beautiful photography, a mountainous and rural Chile unknown to many, excellently well portrayed.
