Watch the original? That's precisely why object, in part.
I watched the original series, most of which when originally broadcasted. And at least 3 times through, though most not recently. Same with TNG and Enterprise. At least twice for Voyager, and all of DS9 at least once, maybe twice. The reboots also. I didn't care for Discovery or Picard.
So why do I object. I don't see how you can reconcile The Squire of Gothos with this episode. While Spock wasn't on the planet, he did see Trelane in tSoG. No recognition at all. Tell me a Vulcan can subconsciously suppress memories. (Interestingly, Christine did not appear in tSoG.)
I would like to object also about consistency regarding Corby and Christine, but that isn't really an issue other than how quickly Corby devolved after this earlier meeting. But quite possible.
On the other hand, this episode was quite fun and creative. The overall story arc was a little derivative but like A Quality of Mercy that was intentional. I just don't think it was as well done as aQoM. Still pretty well done.
I liked Spock dancing.

Many years ago I stumbled on Hilarie Burton. I don't remember which movie, but I started looking for her after that. There is something about her.
In this movie Josie doesn't follow the usual cliches for Hallmark movies. One of these is the lead character who changes personality on a dime about a third of the way through. The other is the really ugly first meeting with her romantic opposite. The backstory of being high school friends avoids that, but there isn't the bad break-up there either.
The vehicle that throws them together for a weekend is a bit unusual also. Enlist Gridley to go home with Josie to make Josie's current boyfriend look better.
That brings us to Paul Campbell. He tends be a different kind of leading man in many of his movies. He is quirky. Gridley drives a truck that runs on vegetable oil.
These two actors have great chemistry. It's like they have known each other since high school. Josie immediately buys into Gridley's quirkiness despite her recent history of being "like her dad". And he is a real corporate stick-in-the mud. Talk about personalities changing on a dime, well that's a spoiler.
We also have the old pro Tim Conway. He plays another quirky character, grandpa. Actually he is beyond quirky, but what else do you expect from Conway?
This movie is a true rom/com because it is lighthearted fun most of the way through.
