Out of your mimed only boos

I was really excited for this one because of the tag line: "come for the hexes stay for the boos" but it really did not seem to fit this movie in any way unfortunately.

Some of the stories had slight promise, most were boring and cliche. A few of the stories were plagued with some really poor cgi and monsters.

The highlight of this film was definitely the final story about the mimes. Wish that was a stand alone.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to skip to the last story if you are finding it difficult to finish it is definitely worth it.

The fact that it is free on youtube makes it a good time killer if, for instance, you are trapped in the airport for 4 hours.

    HORRIBLE MOVIE!

When i saw the poster of this on prime i was expecting to see something cool. NOPE! i was WRONG!, yet again another antoholy film, WOW! It's just so sad to see that now days filmmaker have ran out of ideas and make lame boring anthology, and there is so much creative original ideas that there are! Also when it comes to anthology it should be about one topic like ghost, demons or holidays, but this film was just a bunch of weird lame short films combined together. I think that the director/editor all did was gave it a title combined all of them together, credit the people that made these shorts and that was all. Also about the add on about the topic thing tis film went from magic hourglass to evil mimes, LIKE WHAT! If your just gonna do that, don't even bother making a film out of it just uploads each individual films on youtube and make a playlist.

I know i sound really mean and aggressive but its true like You can watch it if you want (DON'T!), but please for the love of anything good on this earth DONT MAKE A GOSH DARN ANTHOLOGY!

    Literally 50/50

This middling anthology sports a pretty high production value, but is not an anthology in the traditional sense. That is to say that there is no framing story of any kind. This leads to a level of inconsistency that is amplified by the fact that the individual vignettes are only separated by either their own credits reel or abrupt jump cuts that lead into the establishing shot of the next short. The jump cuts can feel totally jarring and will leave a bad taste in your mouth. Unfortunately, these jump cuts also draw one's attention to the abrupt, inconclusive endings that plague some of the short films - lookin' at you Sleepwalker.

Of course, as is always the case with horror anthologies, the stories tend to be all over the place, and this anthology definitely checks that box. We've got everything from shady hitchhikers and sci-fi prisoner exchanges to time manipulation and home invasions.

Also in typical fashion, some stories are much stronger than others. I loved the premise and ending of The Hourglass Figure, the cleverness of Exit 7A, and the delivery of The Silent Treatment. These stories are easily the most fleshed out and well-executed ideas. Meanwhile, Sleepwalker felt too inconclusive, Bannon's Lookout was a creative idea that really needed to be explored further, and My BFF was too rushed and didn't fully deliver on any of its ideas as a result.

That's right! We've got 6 tales in total, and below are brief synopses:

The Hourglass Figure: Failing to meet the demands of her family, a struggling housewife discovers a helpful trinket in her attic, but it must be handled with care.

Sleepwalker: Struggling with the recent loss of her husband, a troubled woman begins experiencing strange phenomena in her sleep.

Prisoner Exchange at Bannon's Lookout: In a bid to save their daughter, an exchange is made between man and beast. It's hard to say who's saving who. . . And from what.

Exit 7A: On the way to his family reunion a young man gives an ominous hitchhiker a ride to Exit 7A.

My BFF: A young and ailing single mom's relationship with her daughter becomes strained when a new doll shows up on their doorstep one night.

The Silent Treatment: Two teens are enjoying a horror movie marathon until it is interrupted by the intrusion of an unexpected third wheel sporting his own style of entertainment.

An okay pick if you have 75 minutes to spare, but don't go out of your way to watch it

Better than I expected from a very new movie with only 5 ratings and no reviews, but the stories were of variable quality. It had a feeling of being a bunch of shorts strung together instead of being constructed as a deliberate anthology. It lacked any framing narrative, the titling and credits from story to story were highly inconsistent, and it had no kind of buffer from story to story if there weren't credits at the end of one or an establishing shot at the start of the next, which made for a couple of confusing transitions.

My favorite was the fourth story, Exit 7A. It was well-paced and concise, simple but well executed. The first story was one of the strongest, as it gave the simple plot a decent amount of time to develop, but it did suffer from the lead making a hugely stupid decision for no reason and bringing about their own downfall. The sixth and final story was a horror comedy. The dialogue was a little try-hard, but I did find it decently funny overall. Definitely a monster I didn't expect. I found the other three stories pretty forgettable.

On the whole, I didn't feel like I wasted my time on this anthology--it's definitely not even the worst horror movie I've seen in the past 24 hours--but I also only liked half of the stories. YMMV.
