I watched the pilot and I actually laughed at some of it. I love love LOVE any show with music and anything that is uplifting. So if anyone is looking for that, watch it! It definitely reminds me of Sister Act, Glee and a little bit of Pitch Perfect. (Anna Camp is cool!) A music professor helps out a small town choir to win a competition. They used a "mash up" (Glee did these also) with two songs. The music wasn't so great. Would I watch it again? Probably. It might take a few more episodes to get into it. I'm surprised at how short it was...wish it was longer than 30 minutes.
This new sitcom has so much potential just like the cast of the unknown church choir in Perfect Harmony. Arthur (Bradley Whitford) is an Ivy League music professor who has fallen off the wagon and lives on a houseboat. Rather than drink a quart of scotch and pop a bottle of pills, give up on life and pull his own proverbial plug, Arthur asks and looks for a sign to go on with life while illegally parked in front of the Second First Church of the Cumberlands and then he hears the church choir practicing that appears to need being saved, more than Arthur does so he takes it upon himself to give this cast of characters a choir leader.
All of the choir have weaknesses and strengths just like you and me, and Arthur appears to have a knack with his abruptness and candor for bringing out the best in his new found choir both in their personal lives, and with their singing ability.
So although everyone has their periodic lows in their own lives, as a group this choir/cast is a hit. I look forward to seeing much more of this Rocky themed choir belt out a few more songs that we can all relate to. Don't expect a recreation of the former Glee TV series because this sitcom is new, fresh and packs a powerful punch that stands above the rest. Can I get a Hallelujah?

It's fun, it has some great characters already. I just know once they develop them more it's just going to get better! I just love Bradley Whitford. It's a lighthearted comedy. Made me laugh with some spot on one liners! Usually it take 3-4 episodes of any show to really pull me in. This one did it immediately. I think it's going to be fun! I don't know about y'all but I can use some lighthearted comedy in my world.
Most good TV shows need a few episodes before they come together. I'm really hoping this is one of them. The first episode had a lot of potential it just didn't quite reach - but I have hope that it improves quickly. In its favor - Bradley Whitford, characters that aren't stereotypes, some clearly good singers, and an overall positive message. As someone who has been in a number of choirs before, I'll be interested to see how realistic this turns out to be.
(Initial Impressions) This new series needs some work. The story is rushed and uneven. It was as if they were trying to fit a whole season of plot into one episode. The talent is there, there just needs to be room for them to realize their characters. The motivation for the characters was either non-existent or muddled. I was looking forward to some good music, but all we got is a mishmash of noise. Based on the pilot, I give the episode a 4 (poor) out of 10. Based on the talent, I expect this to get better, so I'm giving the series an optimistic 6 (potential) out of 10. {SitCom with music}
