I've enjoyed Turkish dramas before but this is nowhere near good. The characters are not believable and the people just don't know how to act! (wonder how they got through the auditions!) It's like they're reading the script as they go! The storylines might be plausible but if misery after misery is all what a family goes through then it becomes dead boring! I'm just wondering if there's going to be a dramatic payoff that's worthy! I care about the characters Hanzade and Galip but Galip should just make up his mind like a man where his wife and lover are concerned!
I watched all 105 episodes. The series is about obsessive relationships, not uniting 2 families. The over-acting, especially by the matriarch, Esmanur, is occasionally grating, and I hope Hanzade kept herself well-hydrated while producing buckets of tears. The male leads were wooden and appallingly violent toward women. The villain, Semih, was actually the most interesting character, and the best-acted. It's always interesting to travel to Turkey via these series, to see the topography, weddings and funerals, architecture, etc. I still love Turkish dramas and will watch more, but this is definitely my least favorite.
I binge watched this series and became increasingly moved by the storyline and the actors. Contrary to what some "American" reviews have lamented, I found the romantic interactions between the characters intense, culturally relevant and well done. It reminded me of my childhood European idea of romance where discreet looks, small gestures and the power of touch were electrifying, unlike Hollywoodian movies where sexual obsessiveness is so perverse and explicit and that you wonder what level they will have to take it to next to elicit viewer response.
I did find the the storyline of Semih was a bit exaggerated but maniacs are called such for a reason.
I really enjoyed learning about some of the customs and places in Turkey. I'm hooked on Turkish Drama. America is not the be all and end all when it comes to acting nor I feel is it the beacon of world culture and tradition that others should measure their own from. Thank you to all who were involved in this series. I respect and appreciate your work.

Ice watched quite a few Turkish dramas and I'm well on my way with Burned Cocoon. For one thing the Turkish actors are incredibly beautiful. I think because the TV series are so long one gets very familiar with the characters. I get obsessed and every evening I watch at least 2 or 3 episodes. Because we have so long to get to know the characters it's easy to get involved in their lives. Some people think that the acting is not good in Burned Cocoon but I disagree. Some critics think that they don't like the way the male characters treat female characters. If that's the case then one should watch movies from other countries. If you don't want to see a true characterization then don't watch foreign films. I don't want to see a film where false ideas of culture are given. I love the romance and the passion. I love that we get to see the architecture and the landscape. When I'm involved with a Turkish drama I never want them to end. Burned Cocoon is no exception.
I loved parts of this show. It was a complex plot with lots of twists and turns. Semih the bad guy was completely delusional about Hanzade which made some of the storylines comical. I really liked the last episode it was beautiful ending.
