I cant believe I used to like this garbage!

Maya and Miguel is so unrealistic for a cartoon made to capture the society in a realistic way. Maya's hair bow starts to shine whenever she has an idea. It could work as a visual metaphor similar to the lightbulb that appears when a character has an idea, but in one episode Maya's hair bow can't stop shining until that silly girl can follow her plan. Doesn't make any sense! In another episode a girls loses her cat and the kids ask some guy for help saying "pato" the Spanish word for "duck" instead of "gato" which means "cat". Maya translated it as "a lost cat" but that guy didn't pay attention to the translation, so they ended up with a duck instead. For real? Are you kidding me? If that Mexican kid knows Spanish so well, why would she mistake the words? And why didn't she say it in English from the beginning? And why didn't that man pay attention when he heard the explanation in English?

Every episode is predictable, boring and truly stupid. All the characters are annoying and boring and its a show that lacks any originality and anything interesting. The theme song is irritating and the characters act very dumb in that intro.

This cartoon is leftist and liberal propaganda. It was made to promote multiculturalism to children and fail to do even that. When I was a kid I used to love this show, but after growing up I realised how much time I wasted watching it. I must give this cartoon the lowest score possible.

    Another Turnoff!

I watched about one episode and got bored! I thought "Hmmm, who would watch that? What's the target audience?". It looked cheaply made and has the most annoying theme song ever!!!! Beside all that, the characters are lame, the stories are as boring as hell and jokes are copied from other shows. I have just worked out the idea of it, it is trying to promote multiculturalism because the characters look like they're from Spain, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil or Portugal or somewhere like that. They supposed to speak Spanish. Here is a news flash: I hardly speak any Spanish (French is what I'm good at!) and I can easily watch a day in the life of a Spaniard video other than this. If you want to make a programme aiming to promote multi-culture, try making it a bit more entertaining! It just far too educational, dull and dreary! Anyhow, I feel quite sorry for the production team behind the garbage; this must be a total career killer for them. This show is just another complete and utter television channel switchover. This is my final verdict for this show: "Cette Nulle", that's French for "This sucks!" 3/10

    Great Lack of Creativity

Once you've seen one episode "Maya & Miguel", you've seen them all. Maya goes overboard and Miguel has to fish her out of whatever mess she's gotten herself (and others) into.

However, there a few episodes that show that the show may have potential if they would ditch that stupid bird. I've never seen a children's show turn to their pet as much as they've turned to this annoying bird. I actually believe their character's may have enough to hold the show on their own if the writers would just let them. Also I know the show is called "Maya & Miguel", but why not let their friends have the spotlight a little more often? "Arthur" has many episodes that don't even star him, and his friends have proved to be just as interesting (or even more so then) as him.

I will not give this show a completely awful rating cause I do believe that they could actually produce a good episode if they thought outside the box.

    Amazing show

This is an awesome show I just discovered for the first time a few days ago. I've watched the first season/volume on Amazon (via IMDB TV), so far.

I watch a *lot* of chlidren's shows, and this is one of the best, in my opinion. It has five important things:
    • Love (characters who care about other people)
    • Education
    • Entertainment
    • Culture
    • Morals

It's the most educational children's show I've seen with regard to learning Spanish and English, and culture for that matter. That's not what the show focuses on, but it is a benefit.

The episodes are very creative, and have a lot packed into them (they're not shallow). There's plenty of humor.

The season I watched was clean. There were a few euphemisms in some episodes (like 'gosh' and/or 'heck'), but no foul language.

Maya is very empathetic and loving, and she seeks to help people do what they want to do.

I'm really surprised I hadn't heard people talking about this before now. It's an awesome show (and I personally enjoy watching it). I've purchased a couple seasons, and plan to purchase the rest next month.

The art is great. They capture things I've seen in real life that I haven't seen captured in a cartoon before.

My favorite episode I've watched is the second one.

    Laughably bad and mostly forgotten!

What do Barney, Dora The Explorer, and Teletubbies all have in common? They're insultingly bad. One show, however and it's a mostly forgotten one; Maya and Miguel is so laughably bad that it could even be shown on MST3K/RiffTrax. Think of this as the slightly more bearable version of Dora The Explorer. Still, M&M wasn't a great show, but it wasn't a pile of dreck like Barney or Dora. It's a nice show to watch, to only make fun of it. This show no longer airs on PBS Kids and it hasn't since 2012 but if you want to riff this MST3K-style, go ahead. At least this isn't "Dora The Explorer" levels of bad, just "So bad it's laughably bad". At least the twins look okay for 10-year old Latino/Latina kids.
