In the movie the characters are depicted as being 4 years apart. Michael played by Rex Smith is 17 & Jessie played by Denise Miller is 13. In real life they were 8 years apart..Rex was 24 & Denise was only 16!

Gaffes
When Jesse is eating dinner with her family, her hair is in a ponytail. When she is in the kitchen to help her mother with the next course, her hair is down around her shoulder. When they return to the dining room, it's back up in a ponytail.

A surprising and satisfying film for everyone.

I first saw "Sooner or Later" when it was first broadcast in '79. My first impressions were that it was a simple children's movie, but, as the show progressed, I realized it was much, much more. While it is mostly about the coming of age of a young girl, Jessie's family, friends, hopes and dreams come to life in a mature and positive manner. This movie really grows on you and the satisfying ending is totally unexpected.

For those interested in the rest of the story try to find the the two books that complete the trilogy: "Waiting Games" and "Now or Never", both by Bruce and Carole Hart. Highly Recommended.
