Overall this show is a 6.7/10 with a pretty great first season.
Seasons 1-2 overall 8.1/10. These first two seasons were solid with genuine tension and a decent story revolving around our protagonist Spencer James. We explore his relationship with his father, his struggle to balance his life at both Beverly and Crenshaw, and trying to be involved in his community as much as possible. There were some flaws with all the political messages being propagated by you could overlook and enjoy the story.
Seasons 3-4 overall 5.6/10. These two seasons were TRASH. The show lost whatever magic it had in the first two seasons and just went on a downhill spiral. Characters became annoying and unlikable, and Spencer became this hero who needs to be involved in EVERYTHING. These two seasons were so bad I couldn't even finish season 4.

Bought into the first season binge watching on Netflix. Lots of action. Loved the characters and story line. Moved into the first part of Season 2 and all was good. Lots of turns that I didn't see and it kept me interested.
THEN...wait for it.... The RACE card was introduced full bore about Episode 4. Once the politically correct, tell me how my white privilege helps me succeed in life over others and that I'm a racist from birth kicks in...I'm out.
Fun while it lasted...

The first and second seasons were thought-provoking, well-written and you almost believe there is a consultant on staff who lived in S Central LA that gave insight into life there as opposed to the typical Hollywood cliches. The background character studies were in depth for the principle cast and the sub-plot about the family issues made the series very 3-dimensional (although at times typically sappy and predictable as once would expect from a TV series). But in season 3, the show "jumps the shark" and becomes a typical mouthpiece for Hollywood elites, crying for "defund the police" and citing a police "war on our people" (the typical talking-points of the left) and forget about the actual depth of the previous character study. Watch the first 2 seasons...then pretend the rest don't exist.
This show has a little bit of a One tree hill feel to it. I was a big fan of the OTH series and I feel this show has the same potential that show has for many years. Not the greatest acting but I think it will get better. Hoping this show grows to be something great
