I'm not a fan of this version of the turtles. Episodes are subdivided into two mediocre subplots, sole characters are too cartoonish and unlikeable, but man the show has something that None of the previous incarnations ever had: incredible style and animation. Cheesus, the animation is too-tier, anime heavy influenced, and that's awesome! The fights are so smooth and gorgeous, it does feel like an anime (in a good way, it's fun to watch), and the final battle... You must watch the final episodes guys, they're definitely worth it. Give it a chance, it can still entertain you.
At first when the trailers dropped it seemed like TMNT got the TTG treatement, and oh boy was i wrong.
If you happen to not be a fan of the TMNT and feel a bit intimidated that you probably would not understand it, don't be, this show is very friendly to new fans and casuals.
From episode one the show introduces you to it's fun snappy nature with fun dialogue, great use of limited animation, and does not waste time to flex the talented animators and artists working on it's crew, from amazing action scenes to more subtle character animation that makes it a joy to rewatch every episode and find fun visual gags or an intresting desing of a background character.
The voice acting is astounding, with great performances and hilarious line delivery, specially Josh Brener as Donnie and Ben Schwartz as Leo.
If you feel dissapointed that a charcater that was once great is now depicted as not so great, take in mind that this show is wants to differentiate itself from the others and will try to give a new point of view to the classic formula that every TMNT fan is familiar with, but remember, there is a reason to this, characters change, grow, adapt, and RISE.
While this show focuses more comedy, it's also not shy of an engaging story, the first few episodes work to set up the ground work for more big and dramatic episodes, even in the lighthearted fun episodes you will find elements that will come into play in the bigger story that it's telling
Sadly, as of the time that i'm writting this review, it doesn't look too bright for this show. Due to shady practices at Nickelodeon, the show was sabotaged, and was forced to finish it's story mid season 2 with the final 4 episodes, but not all hope has been lost...
next year there is a movie coming out on netflix, if you like it, be vocal about it, recommend it to a friend, post a review in social media, this show is like no other and there might not be anything like it again, do what you can to support it if you care. #Saverottmnt #Supportrottmnt

ROTTMNT is easily one of the best reincarnations of TMNT that I've seen in a long time. The artstyle is gorgeous, and the animation is flawless. You can really see the attention to detail! The fighting is realistic, the jokes are hilarious, and everything seems...deliberate, if that makes sense. There's not a single cut corner, not a single out-of-place frame, no unrealistic characterization...This show is perfect. Great for people of all ages! Plus, the turtles are all different breeds! It's a small, but fun little detail.
Go watch Rise! You won't regret it!
Like many other reviewesr, I had my reservations about this series, not being particularly fond of some of the redesigns (Master Splinter is completely unrecognizable here) and the changes made to the plot and the characters.
After watching some of the episodes my impressions were more positive, mostly thanks to the good animation this series had, with an effective characterization. (The personalities of the characters are very different to their usual portrayal from the comic and the previous series, but the new characterization isn't necessarily bad, just different.)
If you are expecting to see a serious (Or at least, a semi-serious) version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, than you are going to be dissapointed by this series. I personally think this is more enjoyable as its own thing rather than as an adaptation.

I will preface this by saying I grew up watching reruns of the original series and watched a few other remakes here and there, along with the Bay movies, so I am a huge fan. (I even had three pet turtles named Leonardo, Raphael, and Michelangelo! I only had three and Donnie was my least favorite at the point, sorry.)
And I'm not rating this 10/10 only because I believe there's always room for improvement in anything and I know Rise isn't done with the story it's telling.
Short and Sweet, it's amazing and DEFINITELY worth a watch or two.
The overall style and animation is incredible to watch and lends to insanely good fight scenes and beautiful cityscapes. The villains are fun and unique and the fact that Shredder isn't the main baddy right away lends to a greater story line.
I've seen people having issues with the story, or in their words a lack-there-of, but take those accounts with a grain of salt. Like the majority of cartoons, the first few episodes are 'filler'. I use quotations because while they don't add to the main plot line that unfolds, they're very useful in introducing this new iteration of the ninjas. There's a lot of character interaction and by the time the main plot kicks in, you've gotten a feel for all the main characters and understand them. Grant it, it is a complete divergence from the gritty 'dark' versions of past but it does such a well job of balancing serious moments with lighthearted ones. It's very organic and at this point we've got enough grim-dark reboots.
The stylization of the turtles is great and gives us more personality at just a glance, and speaking of personalities, the changes made to the Turtles' personalities are great! A lot of people say that we've ended up with just four Michelangelos but that's hardly the case. Yes, they're more goofy and not as serious as their but this feels super organic and makes much more sense as after all, they're TEENAGE mutant ninja turtles. They act more their age while steering clear of the obnoxious fart jokes and potty humor. The brothers feel like actual brothers and it's much easier to relate to them now. It also put the danger of every fight into perspective, they're teenagers first and ninjas second.
I had a lot more in-depth analysts written but it was reaching term paper length and no one will read that so,
tl;dr It's incredibly inventive, fun, and a fresh breath of air to a series that was dying out. Give it a shot and if you don't like it nbd. It can't be any worse than the Bay movies.
