After watching The Encounter (original movie), and The Encounter: Paradise Lost and enjoying both, I was really looking forward to this series. It didn't disappoint. I really enjoy it Bruce Marchiano's modern-day portrayal of Jesus. He is warm and friendly, and gives a loving touch to the relationship Jesus Christ desires to have with each one of us. I binge-watched the first season, then had to wait for each new episode of the second season to come out! I look forward to each new episode...and only wish there were more episodes to a season!
A true masterpiece of storytelling and inspiration. The movies and this series portray God in the most perfect way possible. He does not need us we need Him and he proves this by allowing us to create our own failed destinies and plans to show us He has the better one. Just brilliant. This show needs 20 seasons
On a Pureflix page, they compare this to "Touched By An Angel," which is just plain blasphemy. That show had great writing with actual depth, authenticity, and good production value. This... immature writing and sub par production. Flat, uninspired, no nuance - it's like a student film. Why, why, why do they keep doing this? Why, why, why does the audience keep watching? They've conditioned people to accept such bad quality. Please, Christian viewers, demand more. This won't reach a single non believer and it only lends to the view that Christians are bad filmmakers. They should be better than mainstream. That's the only way to reach beyond the walls of the church.
I was reluctant to get pureflix to watch this but i don't regret it, the show is amazing, each episode is a self contained plot where someone encounters jesus while undoing hardships in their life, it's more moving than the Encounter movies, if you enjoyed the encounter movies you'll love this show even more. The production quality is really good and the acting is top notch for a christian series. Wish it was on dvd or blu-ray because i would rent it out to people at my family's video store.
The series is family friendly, well written, quality television. Each episode can stand alone with it's story line. The acting, writing, and production is well done and uplifting. The original movie and sequel had it's moments when it seemed a bit predictable and other moments when it seemed a little forced, but that is not the case at all with the series. Worth watching!
