Jason Clare(V)
Jason Clare is a prominent and highly regarded Australian Labor Party politician and a key member of the current Albanese Government. He is often seen as a potential future leader of the Labor Party due to his strong communication skills and public appeal. Jason has been the Minister for Education since June 2022. He was re-appointed to this role in the Albanese Government's second ministry (formed after the 2025 federal election). In this capacity, he is responsible for the national education system, including schools, vocational education and training (VET), and higher education.
Jason was born in Sydney in 1972 and raised in Western Sydney. He was the first in his family to finish high school and attend university, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales. Prior to entering federal parliament, he worked as a senior adviser to former NSW Premier Bob Carr and as Manager of Corporate Relations at Transurban. He joined the Labor Party in 1991 and was active in his local branch.
