The Illiterates

I'm feeling sick on the best and most heartbreaking way possible. This hour outdoes everything that has come before. Love, hate, betrayal, sex, passion, fight, light and darkness. Everything comes together in this. A cinematic, lurid and earth-shattering masterpiece. Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac deserve every possible praise in the world.

This episode is my favorite. And this is Jessica's best performance to date, in my opinion. I didn't think any episode could top the second one, but I was wrong.

In my last review I talked about how me as an actress would always pay attention to how the actors would do this or that, and I have to say in this one Jessica gave EVERYTHING. You could almost feel her pain, her shame, her regret. You can feel so bad for her, but at the same time you can say that she deserved what was coming. It's the duality of how we feel towards her character that shows how good of an actress she is. I mean, her character is not an easy one to like. Neither of them are, actually.

I understand how some people wouldn't like this tv show, there's no action, no change of sceneries, two people talking for an hour. And yet, those are the the reasons this show is one of the best out there. It's raw, it's real, it's relatable, it's life.

It reminds me of good old Theater, a monologue actually. They don't listen to each other, so it's basically two monologues. Two very well played monologues, and unfortunately, that is how people in real life communicate, no one listens anymore, people are only concerned with themselves, and that's a pity, but real nonetheless.

The acting and writing are so damn good in this episode of Scenes from a Marriage! Every conversation between Oscar Isaacs and Jessica Chastain is riveting; it's glorious how each episode has gotten better since the pilot. I think it's brilliant that they have a sensual experience and soon after arguing occurs, the range of emotions is to me what makes this episode a 10!

Art this days hardly can make you feel the essence of a catharsis. This episode is cathartic! You can feel and learn and go through what they are experiencing. It made me feel grateful to the actors that played their roles. I really needed to see that some times this happen to be outcomes in life, and unfortunately it's true, as they say, we are illiterates. So thank you for taking a part and doing something to sow that.

... this was tough to watch.. cannot imagine what it was like to create... she said it was the toughest scene she's ever had to perform in... her character now being desperate.. loosing everything... it's a bleak portrayal... it's meant to be... being frantic in each episode has cost her more every time

... final episode should it follow Bergman.. has now been 20 years since they were married... & despite having both been remarried to other people... they meet for an affair... & there's revelation of another affair very shortly after they were married

... a week to see if it goes this way in today's version of their story.
