Some of the things that I loved about the film:
Themes were really clear - I loved the way that religion was constantly conflated with the protagonist
- through him using the camera, playing "god" by being the videographer and the subjects of the film being his pawns
- through the conflation of religion with violence, what can truly be forgiven?
- the silencing of women, it appeared the protagonist put his love on a pedestal, which is common In religious practices, and once her purity was shattered he became undone
The length was perfect for the story
The contrast of the suburban Australian setting with the supreme nature of god was fascinating
A lot of the shots were super impressive, especially when character's were physically reflected through the cross
Character's obsession with marriage and love - he was indoctrinated into worshipping these seemingly perfect and pure ideologies and his world fell apart when they were dark and complex.
