My copy is a digital file that plays on a HDTV in 4:3 format. The resolution is typical of an old VHS tape and the color is bright but sometimes washed out to mostly green tint. It is dubbed into English. The voices are not familiar but the dubbing is good because they are not cartoonish or otherwise annoying.
The movie starts with a man playing a flute. A few more characters are quickly introduced then the story begins. An escort company takes a big job but there is concern over recent robberies. Needless to say what happens next. Subsequently the story becomes a mystery about who is the traitor. Polly does not enter the story until about 30 minutes in.
The fights are all good and above average. They use swords, spears, and fists. There were enough fights but also room for more. The movie is certainly low budget yet doesn't appear cheap.
There is nothing special about the movie, no memorable scenes and no fights you would want to rewind and watch again immediately. On the positive side, there were also no fast forward button moments for me. This all adds up to another average movie but only for fans of martial arts movies of the golden age from 1967 to 1984.
I wasn't expecting too much from this film but it wasn't too bad. The central plot is solid enough and serves to deliver plenty of excuses for enjoyable martial arts action. It is clearly a fairly low budget film; the locations aren't very varied and given the fluctuating light levels at times no film was 'wasted' reshooting anything that didn't look good. The cast did a solid job as far as the action was concerned; as the version of the film I watched had been dubbed into English. Strangely the original music had also been replaced in places... this was blatantly obvious as parts of the soundtrack from 'Star Wars' were used! Overall I'd hardly call this a must see film but it is fun enough and as the action isn't that brutal it can be enjoyed by younger viewers too.
Chinese title " The wind is surging all over the hub "??
However Lots of plot twists for enjoyable kung fu fighting
The plot for this one gets very convoluted at times, and for much of the film I struggled to follow what was happening and to whom. Fortunately, there is plenty of fighting involved, most of which is rather good, with plenty of weapon work and acrobatics; this surfeit of kung fu action helps to keep things reasonably entertaining even when you haven't the foggiest what is going on. It all leads to a climactic battle to the death (as these films usually do) in which the identity of the villain is finally revealed. And I still didn't have a clue who he was!
4.5/10, rounded up to 5 for the rousing music, which is up there with John Williams' best work.

- TriviaThe Star Wars sound track is in this movie a year before Star Wars came out.
