Me and Mrs Jones tells of a young graphic artist who is seduced by his boss and then falls in love with sweet Desiree, who's really more his type. The acting is pretty good. However, I found the white guy who tries to "act black" to be very annoying. He was not funny at all. Also, I have to disagree with the previous poster again. This isn't just a movie for black people. It bothers me when a non-black person recommends a movie to black people, because it has mostly all black actors. You haven't a clue! I'm not trying to cause any discord but I need to express my opinion. Anyone who has had an office affair can relate to this movie.
I was drawn to this movie on the basis of the synopsis given by a well known Internet shop. So I figured that Me and Mrs Jones would be some sort of Disclosure variant where you have sexual harassment but from the lady to the man. So we see our hero (Tracy) get the job and it is obvious that his boss (Mrs Jones) is attracted to him but he makes the first move by kissing her! So then he embarks on an affair and then meets Desiree and he tries juggling the two relationships til at last he plumps for Desiree. I was confused because this film was not about a man dealing with sexual harassment so in the end I felt quite sorry for Mrs Jones. She was tough but sometimes in business you have to be and I do not feel Tracy came of it smelling like a rose. There are things he could have said and done that would have given him the high ground such as "I've met someone else and I'm in love" but he did not. So to sum up watch 'Me and Mrs Jones' and come to your own conclusions.
Grahpic artist Tracy is apparently starting out in the job market, or at least he has little experience. He gets one rejection after another on his answering machine (some are funny; most are at least polite). But one company, a dating web site, does want to hire him. Early in the movie he was being asked all these tough questions by this demanding boss and having to come up with creative answers on the spot. He did quite a good job, and apparently this was enough to satisfy "Mrs. Jones" (Was she ever actually married? We never do learn).
At least that's what we are led to believe. Later, we learn the real reason Tracy was hired. After all, he's getting promoted over these other more qualified people. He does not have the experience to handle such a tough job. He does his best, but of course there's one other qualification he has to meet outside of work hours, and this is the hardest one of all. Especially after he meets the cute Desiree.
The ending is amazing. Something I'm sure everyone who cares for Tracy will enjoy.
This movie has good acting and good writing, but it's not really the sort of thing I enjoy watching. But every once in awhile I need to be challenged by a movie outside my comfort zone. If it is a quality production, then it is worth it. That's the best thing I can say about this movie. It is a comedy at times, but not enough of a comedy to make me happy.
The actors playing potential dates do quite a good job. They come across as real, and their lines appear ad-libbed.
The actor I enjoyed the most was Michael X. Sommers as the token white guy. The rest of the employees act sophisticated, not stereotypical, but this guy is everything that makes black people look bad. He's more black that everyone else there with all his wazzupindahood datsdopeyall stereotypical behavior! A very funny guy.
The language had to be cleaned up a great deal for TV, and the dialogue and situations are definitely not for kids. One gay guy says things that would be considered very shocking, say, on network TV. But the writing and acting are quality in that scene.
If you are black (which I am not) and you want a good movie that has a little of everything, this may be for you.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It's refreshing to see 2 attractive black characters fall in love on screen.Tracy an upstart graphic artist is being sexually harassed by his older female boss Mrs.Jones. One day at lunch Tracy see's an attractive wedding planner who leaves her notebook behind. He tracks her down (Desiree) and this is where the fun begins. The characters are all right on point.Mrs.Jones as the horny boss.Desiree as the unsuspecting girlfriend. The gay co worker who wants to turn Tracy out.The seemingly happily married co worker who likes to visit strip bars. And the black guy wannabee who is white who has a different girl for every day of the week.I give it 4 stars!
I just saw this movie last night and I was glued to the television. I love black love stories and this was definitely one of them. I was so upset when the movie was over. I wanted to see more. Seeing two talented black people acting so well that it made me think that they had something going on for real, was wonderful. I have watched Kim Fields on The Facts Of Life and Living Single, and she was one of my favorite actresses. But to see her in this movie with Mr. Stomp the Yard, it was unbelievable. And I saw Mr. Brian in Stomp The Yard before I saw this movie. He is now one of my favorite actors. But on a bigger scale from one to a thousand, I will definitely give Me and Mrs. Jones a big fat 1000. This is a must-see movie.
