Mansoru Maha Samudram

The role of a young college girl prancing in half sarees and two plaits does not suit Seema . She has a full mature figure. She looks good and slim in sarees in the second part .

While still in college she falls in love with Ratheesh . After a few duets they decide to take things further .

She also tells her father who accepts this relation albeit unwillingly . When the day of the meeting between her parents and Ratheesh comes he becomes absent . She later realises that he has left his rented house .

Very sad and dejected that she's cheated in love , she agrees to go to Madras to further her studies . She meets her room mate Aruna . They become confidantes and start sharing secrets. Seema realises that she is carrying Ratheesh's child . Unsure about what to do even when Aruna advices her to abort, she decides to keep the child .

The baby is given to an orphanage . Studies over, they return back to their homes . Her father announces that she should get over her failed love story and start afresh .A demure and repentant Seema now accepts whatever he says ,

They fix her marriage with Mamooty - dashing and young in one of his early roles. Even then his intensity is unmissable . They soon settle down to matrimony . She keeps pining for her child toying with the idea of confiding in her husband . She visits Madras once and realises that her son was adopted by some one in the gulf some time back.

Sad but also happy that he has a loving home now , she retreats back .

Her friend Aruna comes to invite her for her wedding . When both Seema and Mamooty attend , she realises that the groom is Ratheesh .

Shocked but unable to say anything , she returns back to her own family .

Later, She comes to know that Ratheesh was paid off and waylaid by her father who didn't want him to marry his daughter .

He also created some misunderstandings between them which led them apart .

She confides all this in Mamooty who promptly commits suicide unable to bear this history of his wife .

Aruna over hears their conversation .

In the final scene, Aruna brings her son back from the gulf and herself commits suicide uniting both Seema and Ratheesh with their son .

The two suicides were unnecessary for this movie . Each character could have moved on their own paths .

Aruna was a big star in Telugu then . She has a meaty role equal to Seema here . Over all a fine family fare .
