Grigor Lefterov was born in Ruse, Bulgaria . In the period 1983-1986, he studied Medicine and, in 1988-1990, Bulgarian Philology at the Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. In the period 1994-2000, he studied Film and Television Directing at Bulgarian National Academy for Theater and Film Arts in Sofia, gaining a Master's Degree. He worked at Bulgarian National Television as a director and screenwriter of many programs. In 2010, he won a BNT competition for his sit-com script "Second Hand". In 2008, he won a competition held by the National Film Center for his short film script for The Desert Runner. The film was selected at the festivals in Warsaw and Evora, and at the Golden Rose Film Festival in Varna, where he was awarded with diploma. In 2012, his script "Hristo" was ranked first in the feature film category at Bulgarian National Film Center.
