Our Wild Hearts is a Schroeder family affair. Ricky directs it and also co-wrote it with his wife.
His kids have various roles. His daughter Cambie plays a privileged Malibu teen who travels to the Sierra Nevada Mountains to meet up with her long lost father and bonds with a spirited wild mustang.
Her father Jack an honest to goodness rancher is intent on catching the horse in order to sell him. The daughter wants to let him run free. His neighbouring greedy rancher try every means fair or foul to capture the mustang.
Apparently this was one of the highest rated Hallmark films when it premiered which is a bit like being the tallest dwarf in a midget competition.
Some of the ethics displayed in the film is appalling. Never Mind the question of capturing the wild horse, Martin Kove who plays the greedy rancher and his kids should had been arrested for all the laws they break. It seems Kove must have been a black ops specialist in a former life who has been granted Presidential immunity because the Sheriff should had ran him and his no good family out of town.
Ricky gets as mileage as he can as the put upon but honest to goodness rancher trying to get through hard times and pressure put on by Kove.
The film is also low budget which you can tell as it was a cloudy day when they filmed at the beach. Just a shame the cast were required to sunbathe in a clearly overcast day.

This is a wonderful family movie that I stumbled on to. It was uplifting and inspiring. I am not going to waste time telling you what it is about. Others have done a good job of that. Just about anything Hallmark meets my approval. Some might say the movie is kind of cheesy. That doesn't matter in the least, because I like the movie well enough, to buy a DVD.
Our Wild Hearts has producer director Rick Schroder all of a sudden has a 15 year
old daughter he never knew about drop in for a visit. The daughter is played by
Rick's real life daughter Cambria Schroder. She's just found out about her dad
from her single mom who never discussed him. She's from Malibu and she's used
to the beach lifestyle. Now she's heading for the Sierra Nevadas and the rancher
father she's just found out about.
Rick's fallen on bad times. He had a dude ranch back in the day, but now he captures and breaks wild mustangs for riding horses. There's a stallion leader that he and rival rancher Martin Kove want.
Someone must have been inspired by the old television series Fury. Young Cambria is the one who tames him, but the stallion is a one woman horse just the way Fury was with Joey.
There are some nice performances here. Rick Schroder even got a couple of his sons in playing sons of Kove. Kove is a real bad dude, you might remember him best for being the sensei of that bad dojo in Karate Kid. He's just as bad here.
Our Wild Hearts is a nice family film from the family Schroder.

Our Wild Hearts is a nice family film from the family Schroder.
The film was marred by all the protagonists wearing make-up, whether day or night. Is it really credible that our heroine would have had the time, let alone the inclination, to worry about her appearance? All she's interested in is saving that horse. Why would her father wear eye-shadow? Only if this was a comedy like 'Blazing Saddles'. I would have given this film 5 stars if it had not been demeaned by this idiotic error. Being a lover of horses I was enthralled by this film from start to finish. The filming itself was remarkable, from the air, from the ground, from close-ups to dramatic scenes of horses in huge groups, galloping in harmony and grace. I wasn't too keen on her young admirer, he seemed a bit too weak in contrast to her. If I'd know how good this film would be I'd have recorded it. Let's hope for a repeat.
A really enjoyable Family movie. The 2nd highest rated Hallmark movie channel movie ever. Cambrie Schroder breakout debut role. She delivers a solid performance and carries the film with her wonderful charisma. Thefilm was written and Directed by her Father Ricky who plays Jack Thomas, a cowboy on the edge of losing his ranch. Nice supporting roles are played by Angela Linvall, Eloise De Joria, Martin Kove, Cliff Pots and Chris Massagolia. The cinematography was beautiful, as is all the work of Steve Gainer, who also had a producing credit on the film. Andrea Schroder co-write and Executive Produced. A sequel is already in the development process based on the huge success of the original title "Our Wild Hearts.
¿Sabías que...?
- CuriosidadesThe father and daughter are played by Ricky Schroder and Cambrie Schroder who are father and daughter in real life
- PifiasNobody takes away someone's horse like Grizz did to Willow at the beginning of the movie, when she fell off her horse. That is horse theft and would result in serious criminal prosecution. Grizz was never prosecuted for the act.
