At first seemed interesting but as the movie went on it continued to get complicated hard to follow and too much explanation of the plot. Probably even the writers and directors could not figure out what was going on so not only did they have to explain to themselves but also the viewer. Character development non-existent plot twists unnecessary and constant so it's hard to work out what the overall story is. Very disappointing a lacklustre film with a good idea poorly executed and poorly written even characters don't seem to care ending like the movie itself makes little sense. Do not watch!!

I normally like Herman Yau's hard-hitting filmography but I'm afraid DEATH NOTICE: A SERIAL KILLER LEAVING NOTES is one of his lesser productions, perhaps made at a time when the director swapped quality in favour of quantity. The story follows the usual format with the Hong Kong police force tracking down a murderous serial killer who sets his sight on the city's women. Francis Ng gets a prominent role as the main investigator alongside Julian Cheung, while fan favourite Simon Yau has a supporting role as a police superior. The top-billed Louis Koo plays a different kind of role from the norm and is quite good, although he doesn't have much screen time. Sadly, the plotting for this one is confused and often redundant, leaving it a bit of a mess to watch; the sort of film you spend your time scratching your head through rather than enjoying.
