I found this on streaming under comedy movies.......... with a PG rating, I figured it'd be fine with the kids at home. Although there's some Christian theming, it's not a tremendous part of the film. This is the humorous camp adventure film geared for youth.. and there's a fun home alone element to it. A blockbuster.... no.... but if you wish a family friendly movie with a few smiles, it gets a pass. Themes involve making friends, teamwork, and settling differences with others. I imagine they are kicking around a follow up adventure film based on the way that it ended. It's plausible anyway..
10JSB-7
Camp Hideout is a fun, silly, family film with some touching moments and meaningful points. The poster says it all... It's an 80s style classic comedy with Home Alone-type hijinks and memorable characters. As long as you go in understanding what it is, you'll love it! Great fun having Corbin Bleu to anchor the story as the genuine voice of guidance and an example for the kids. And, what a treasure to have Christopher Lloyd appearing as the tough, grumpy camp warden... I mean, camp operations director. He's a delight! Cheers to the filmmakers for making something wholesome and demonstrating the power of trust, friendship, and human kindness.
If you go in with the mindset of expecting an overly entertaining adult film then you'll write a one-star review like the one added here on IMDb. That was simply unfair. In my opinion. And yes, we're all entitled to share our own. This was an entertaining family film and deserves some justified accolades. It was comedic in a corny kid's way. The key element here is it was about KIDS BEING KIDS ... with all of their mischievous and juvenile antics rolled into an unusual situation and summer camp environment.
Most importantly, I think it did well, offering a message that friendship matters and so does relying on others when you really need the support and think you can cut it on your own.

Clearly an Evangelical mega church's idea at getting people excited for Bible camp. This is one long promo video and they suckered a brilliant actor to being in it.
The music is so awful and tries for force that zany movie cliche that died out ages ago with Disney made for television movies.
The movie has the lighting and cinematography of a YouTube short comedy sketch. Something tells me they did 3 takes max. Everyone in the production crew should be embarrassed at making this. They got a nice gimble and decided it should be used nearly throughout the movie.
The writing, you can tell, was written by people that have seen every cliche ever and decided to wad it in to this pile of junk.
The only thing this movie has going for it is its retro looking poster hoping to capitalize on other good movies.
If you think you're getting a Meatballs, Heavyweights, Camp Nowhere, or even Salute Your Shorts, you're getting nothing close to those.

A troubled teen is sent to a christian camp in the hopes that the Lloyd (as in Christopher) will straighten him out.
We made the mistake of assuming this was a sequel to the classic Camp Nowhere. Our expectations were high and the anticipation was palpable. About seven minutes into the movie we were all ready to gouge our eyes out with broken bottles.
The budget for this was $3 million and was raised by several churches that took up a special collection at the end of service. Most of the budget went to renting the camp ground, the equipment, and grooming Christopher Lloyd's mustache.
It took elements from other successful movies, baptized them, and threw them into the plot. The result is a feel-good movie that feels about as good as a colonoscopy. In fact, I would have enjoyed a colonoscopy over watching this.
Prop I Want: Jackpot Most Punchable Face: Every person who was involved.
Favorite Quote: **incoherent rambling** - Falco.
