Last Stop Station

Finally something out of Brimstone Productions that I like. They seem to have recruited in Andy and his production some raw talent that will be polished smooth soon. For 1,000.00 budget this is an amazing 15 minute short that does a better job than most other films that I've seen of it's size and genre. The shots are tight, the storyline entertaining and the overall 'look' of this short rank it among the likes of "Creep Show" and "The Twlight Zone." Well done Mr. Kumpon. I'll be keeping my eyes on you. I can't wait for Monstersdotcom...

In the world of no-budget independent horror films, it's becoming extremely difficult to discern the mediocre from the god awful, the bad from the absolute worst, and the cheap from some welfare recipient turned home video pro who's only fan is himself, and about six of his best friends who happen to help out (and more importantly star) in some mess that can only be categorized as amateur slop.

I was privy to an online screening of this short film by writer/director Andy Kumpon, and I must say-- I think I actually enjoyed it. I mean really; Aliens VS. Tabloid Journalist... come on! It sounds absolutely ridiculous. But Kumpon does it some justice-- and gives it a "creepy aura", as well as some superb photography and a black and white "haunted" feel that adds mood, atmosphere and most importantly style.

I understand this short, along with another highly atmospheric micro piece titled "Shadows in the Garden" will appear on the feature length horror Anthology "Monstersdotcom", to be released by Brimstone Productions. I would check it out just to strengthen my observation that the future of original/horror story telling may indeed be in good hands.

And that, is all we can hope for.
