This show has some decent information at times, but it is easily the hardest to watch serial killer series I've seen. This has nothing to do with the content of the murders, but rather the construction of the episodes themselves. The speakers and narrator repeat themselves to an absolutely ridiculous degree. A third of each episode isn't just repeated info, but actually repeated dialogue. Another third is, as mentioned in another review, just camera cuts to an artist drawing the face of the killer. The final third is just drivel that has tiny chunks of interesting facts sprinkled in.
The most disappointing part of the show is the amount of potential it has, but how quickly the show kills that spark of interest by just being outright annoying. They shoehorn the line "inside the mind of a serial killer" in about 2-4 times every episode and it's an eye roll. The stories of the murders aren't told in chromatic order; they usually take on something more akin to a bad Pulp Fiction. It jumps everywhere, leaving out parts here and there just to bring them back in when the story has already moved forward.
The real reason I had to stop watching though is this obnoxious stock sound of string instruments that plays at every. Single. Camera cut. It's the exact same sound at the exact same volume in EACH episode. These are 40 minute episodes on average and I'd probably be underselling it if I said they play this sound no less than twice a minute. It's so bad that after watching 4 episodes, I can't focus on anything else in the show. It is CONSTANT. I was really trying to finish the series as the subject matter itself is very interesting, but that is the only saving grace of this show, and you'll never appreciate any of it because of how horribly presented, edited, and written it is. Making myself sit through another episode of this would be unbearable. A complete failure.

Saw season one and thought very informative. Really liked the female psychologist they used in each episode. The only thing I didn't like is in every episode it seemed (at least toward the end of the season) they would ask will this serial killer (insert name) kill that victim (insert name) or let them go. It was always yes so that became annoying and repetitive.
This show really does get in the mind of serial killers. It doesn't use flashy editing, or lame re-enactments, it's more about the psychology. After watching an episode you know what they did and the story of how the got there. The experts on the show are great. They also explore lesser known killers. Its fascinating.
If you need high production values and cliffhanger episodes, there's plenty of streaming shows.
I can't wait to watch season 2 and hope they do more.
Like so many of us nowadays, I'm fascinated by Serial Killers. So stumbling upon this series on Netflix had me stoked to learn about some of the other random serial killers who aren't well known (I'd never heard of), as there are many books, docuseries, documentaries, etc based on the more prolific and highly publicized "prototypical" ones.
But this series.was.the.f'n.WORST. The presentation and delivery of the information was incredibly obnoxious; my intrigue lead me to watch WAY MORE of the series than I should've wasted my time on, which was approximately 25-ish minutes into the first episode.
The persistent and repetitive clips of the dang artist pencilling in the eyes, cutting back to that imagery over. and over. and over. again was just so painful. I held out for ~25 mins hoping they would just move along and stop showing clips of pencilling in the irises, coloring in the pupils now, with such regularity and frequency that I just could not anymore. I am so disappointed that the producers/directors so epically failed at presenting this rather interesting and now viral material!
DO NOT WATCH UNLESS YOU HATE YOUR SANITY AND ENJOY WASTING YOUR DANG TIME

First of all, you can see that the speakers are reading their text on some kind of panel next to the camera. It really gets on your nerve and it's insulting. I hated all of them profoundly. They're all so obnoxious.
The "fill-ups" of the sketch artist drawing a face probably fills at least half of the show and it got me violent. It was so boring and repetetive. Also, they speculate more then they share any useful information. They're so biased.
If you want to produce a true crime show, take this one as an example of what not to do. Worst show. It didn't cost me anything to watch it and I still feel I want a refund.
