The small team indie filmmakers from Canada, known mostly for their music videos and the critically acclaimed, though, unfortunately, little known art indie drama "Violent" returns with "Ash", and again recaptures the magic that made Violent the exceptional film that it is. "Ash" is one of the best films I've ever seen.
Shockingly horrible concept for a film that tricks you into sympathizing with a pedophile while also convincing you that he is "really a good guy." The whole film hinges around a sick belief that people with OCD can't help themselves from giving into the urge to harass children online. Fantastic acting wasted on a sick concept. In this day and age we don't need movies where sex offenders are the heroes, thanks.
You have to see it to believe it. I streamed Violent awhile back and loved it, surprised to see they made another film, pleasantly I might add.
Starts kind of slow but quickly leaves the viewer like a neighbor not kwnowing what's going on next door. Slowly the plot unfolds layer by layer explaining even to the main character what's going on in his head.
Impecable photography.
Sound also really good, but I will agree it gets "overwhelming" at some parts but that's the point. Unconfortable at times.
I would say wonderful movie about mental health and a very disgusting and criminal behavior. I don't think the movie wants you to feel sorry for the character but it does humanize him, but does not forget about what has happen and let the law runs its course.

- PifiasThe Okanagan Regional Police cars do not have '911' or an identifying unit number on the vehicles. The community of Peachland, British Columbia (Canada) is serviced by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), and these the police vehicles pictured in the movie are not RCMP vehicles, which always have a red, yellow, white and blue flag on the sides.
