Must watch if you love K-Dramas. Iron Family won award after award for 2024. They deserved all the awards and won most of them. If there was one thing didn't care for as far as awards went was that was very strange that there were 5 winners for Couple Of The Year. IMO 1 Couple Of The Year is enough. Our ML and FL won, but it was so odd to also have the thruple (ML's dad, mom, and Fl's mom) as winners too. Left out was grandma & grandpa which would have been nice considering they had 5 winners and was one of the cutest and most in love, after all those years of marriage, couple of all.
Loved the drama; so much fun and romantic too, overall. Was unique in that an old cute couple in their 90s are the criminals.
When I first started this drama I had my doubts this was for me because I didn't realize the 1st episode was setting the background story of the little girl who was going blind and her family who owned the neighborhood laundry. After that background, it quickly skips ahead to young adulthood to a more adult theme which is romantic snd comical at the same time - when the FL (virgin) wants to sleep with a cute guy she just bumped into on the crosswalk before she loses her sight 100%.and her sight was going quick. Well, what guy is going to say no right? But it was comical and sets the theme for their relationship going forward.
The ending was fairly good, would have liked it to go 1 step further with our ML and FL in the last episode - one little blurb was not very satisfying but keeping it at 10 rating since drama overall was better than anything else I saw in long time.

After finally finishing this drama, I still rate it 10/10. The show starts out very rocky and it is definitely a slow warm up, but I am ready to instantly rewatch it. I felt all the emotions from these wonderful actors. I was angry, I laughed, I cried, my heart swooned, and I smiled with joy. I looked forward to every episode and it was fun to keep up with all the twists and turns. At the end of the day, I am sad the show ended.
The show won several acting and writing awards from KBS. I started the show, because I absolutely love Kim Jung Hyun and he delivered. As the male lead, he won the Baeksang and "Da Rim and Gang Ju" deservedly won Best Couple Award. Their love story was so immensely beautiful, that it easily outshined so many of the recent kdrama romances. I have replayed their scene on the street during Christmas time, with the Kim Min Seok song, "You Are" playing. Overall, a top notch OST, wonderful creative writing, veteran actors, character development, and a memorable story.

I haven't enjoyed a family drama with all its ups and downs and absurd twists and turns in a while. The twist and turns are not issue here, it is diff from other dramas. It is very entertaining to watch, especially with my Mom hahaha. I especially love Seo Kang Ju's role alot! Though Kang Ju might be one of the most unfortunate ML characters in any KDrama. The writer-nim is really hitting him hard continuously. The chemistry between ML&FL is not as strong as his previous serie Mr. Queen but it's fine because she is not Shin Hye Sun :)) Kim Jung Hyun's acting is fantastic in all parts of the drama whether its comedy, or romance or melodrama! So I'm truly happy to see him as a nominee for Daesang!!!
This is a black comedy farce about stolen money. That aspect of the story is actually quite good and you want to see what happens as secrets are revealed and the money causes unexpected consequences for the two families. Unfortunately the dialogue is not well written and the scenes almost always drag on getting repetitive and hysterical unnecessarily. This is a shame because the actors are all quite appealing. People you want to see. It's just their scenes are too long and their dialogue isn't well written.
Kim Jung Hyun looks awkward doing this comical role and he has such painfully badly written dialogue. Glad he has a lead role but the compared to CLOY has such poor material to work with. Keum Sae Rok's short hairstyle doesn't suit her. She looked prettier in Marry Me Now. Choi Tae Joon acts well and it's a great pick casting Shin Hyun Joon as his father. Kim hye eun has a over the top role. Park Ji Young has a meaty role and she does it with gusto. The grandparents are fun to watch. Good supporting role played by Wang Ji hye.
The premise was good if only a better writer wrote the dialogue. Also 16 episodes would have sufficed.

I didn't have high hopes for this series and I wasn't wrong. Story of a family with an overworked mother who for some reason tolerates a useless man who keeps studying for the state exam instead of working and supporting his family. Why on earth would she tolerate this? Her daughter has progressive blindness which will cost a massive amount of money to cure.
The blind girl asks a total stranger to sleep with her because she will soon be totally blind. Not sure of her reasoning there. Being a typical man (and of course the step son of a very rich man) he obliges her. Says he will phone but never does. Eight years later they cross paths again and she still has his number?
Of course in this enemies to lovers trope she breaks her stick hitting him ad when he takes her home she lies about what happened even threatens him with a hot iron. She doesn't seem to have any moral compass.
Off we go to the grandparents - and a boring scenario of them being old and having cancer but still wanting to go on treks etc - this goes on and on.
I am told this is a comedy - but I don't find lying funny. I also have no interest in boring family scenes which have no relevance to the love story. The episodes are far too long and boring and without any kind of charm.
It de-pressed me and sent me to sleep.
