Red Dead Revolver

After you've played the story mode for a while and unlock more characters, you'll be ready to take on the multiplayer modes. Honestly, the multiplayer modes in Red Dead Revolver are some of the best in the series. It's up to four player and you can take on a shootout with your friends or quickdraw. The levels are okay, but could have been more interactive, even in 2004.

The story mode is linear, and there is no open world like in the sequels. For the period the game was released and the systems it was released, open world would have been a challenge. The graphics were high quality at the time of release and the game play was great. The weaponry you have to choose from is pretty good in multiplayer, and you must buy new weapons and upgrade in game for story mode.

Red Dead Revolver was, for some gamers, the spiritual successor to the Super Nintendo's Sunset Riders from the 1990s. It's a great game, but not for kids under 13, at least.

Honestly and objectively speaking Red Dead Revolver might as well be one of the best games to return or play for the first time (like I did) in 2024. It kind of brings you back to an era when video games had a different philosophy than after 2010 or so. It obviously couldn't be compared with many games of it's kind but it is a game every Rockstar or action adventure fan should play in my opinion. If you take out the unescessary diffuculty the game has in some points it is very fun to play. It is the game that started one of the best gaming franchises and I would love to see it remastered or remade one day by Rockstar. A cult, must to play , wild west story.

Rockstar™ Games' Red Dead Revolver *** out of ****

at first i was a little shifty when i first heard about this game. it sounded kind of generic with no plot or story to me and it seemed like some kind of blood and gore shoot 'em up western. boy was I wrong. this game is amazing. you play as Red, a bounty hunter on revenge. They killed you're family and left you for dead. you start out at red's childhood home. and you must shoot down some goons that have invaded your farm. and then the story builds from there. the story is pretty good. the graphics are great. the weapons are pretty fun and cool. but the key thing that dragged me into the game was the dead eye system. it slows down movement and you can lock onto key points on a persons body and get up to about 10 locks for a devastating shoot out. it's the key feature of the game. the levels are fun to an extent. and when i say 'to an extent' i mean that once you get to the end bosses then you feel like you gotta throw you're controller across the room. pig josh was the bastard one for me. but besides the ridiculously difficult bosses this game is amazing. definitely a good game to pick up and go crazy with.

I wonder, if Capcom hadn't given this game to Rockstar, would we have still gotten the Redemptions?

This game is not as good as either Redemption but it's far from bad. It's not as seriously-toned as they are, and depending on the type of person you are you'll either like it or dislike it. It's basically a spaghetti western, which not everyone is a fan of. Chances are, if you like Tarantino movies then you'll enjoy this game.

It's available to buy in the Xbox Store and PlayStation Store. I recommend it! Perhaps I wouldn't if it didn't have a nostalgia factor for me and if I wasn't a Tarantino fan, but what're you gonna do?

Also, I didn't realize it before but Annie Stoakes is hot. For a bunch of pixels that form a blocky figure, that is. LOL.

As a kid Sergio Leone's films were a staple part of my viewing. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, For a Few Dollars More and Fistfull of dollars were what Westerns were all about for me. Red Dead Revolver is kind of like an interactive Spaghetti Western. The game is homage to Leone, Eastwood and the music of Ennio Morricone. One of the great aspects of the game is that you really do have to seek cover in order survive, unlike many first person shooters where you just run, shoot and kill. A friend of mine thought it was stupid that so many of the enemies in the game actually run in up close to fire at you, but what he is forgetting is that pistols at that time were not as accurate as the handguns of today. The weapons do reflect a real degree of accuracy as far as range and damage is concerned. I don't know if Rock Star made a sequel but they should - much more enjoyable than the GTA series.
