If you like Rocambole or such 1960 french TV series, you will love this one too. DVD video quality is poor, it does not have get any restoration process but we still have the full story. Each episode is short, around 15 min each.
Audio is poor too, not restorated, some dialogues are difficult to hear, you sometimes have to put volume high then reduce.
The story is typically what we got in those old times, it is fresh, mysterious, strange plot. Very enjoyable.
Why do they not air those old TV? I'm sure there would be many too watch at them. And also why do they not make such pleasant series nowadays? I'm not nostalgic, I wasn't born at that time, I'm 30+ only.
Like this other review, I don't understand why people in that TV series didn't have any carrier, because they play awfully good, we do not watch a series, we ARE in the series, we are part of those people.
This DVD is available on amazon.fr and many others french internet stores. The audio is french and there is no subtitle. Yeah, as usual even deaf people are forgotten.
If you understand french, do not miss this one, DO NOT !!!!!!!! :)

I just bought this series on DVD. It was one of my best memories of the late sixties television series. Even after all these years, this film is still great. From a Paul Feval's novel who wrote "Le bossu" that is best known than "Les habits noirs". The basic story is identical, a man falsly accused comes back to get his revenge 16 years later. Not of the actors were very known but they were all very good. I am surprised that Jean Pierre Bernard who was handsome and sensitive haven't had a greater carrier on movies or TV.
I regret that TV currently never release all these nice series we had at the time: Arpad le Tzigane, Maurin des Maures, Les Mohicans de Paris...
