The Dress Up Gang is beyond incredible. It's nuanced and ridiculous and relatable and heartbreaking. These writers don't take any cheap shots to get laughs, they treat everything that we're used to seeing be a punchline - a man in a dress, expressing feelings and communication, etc. and treat it as normal. It's charming and also hilarious.
On YouTube TV (just do the 14-day trial and binge this show, bc at $50/month it's not worth it) you'll have to check the order of episodes bc for some reason they're out of order and there's definitely a story building for Cory that you want to see unfold as the creators intended. If you manage to watch on TBS, they're in order there but you have to watch 9 ads every 10 min or so.
Whatever you need to do to watch this show, do it. It's worth it. It's filling the hole in my life left by Broad City and despite not having much gender diversity, you do get Chase Bernstein who is underutilized but still amazing, and Andie McDowell who plays herself and makes the show feel so uniquely LA. As a transplant to LA, who really enjoyed hanging out with a cast of misfits throughout my 20s, this show captures the friendships you make here, the shared courtyard, the couch surfing roommate, it's just... everything.
New Look Day and The Cockroach are not to be missed. And The Bully made me cry. I hope there's a season 2 and if not, I hope whatever these guys do next it's easier to access than TBS and YouTubeTV.

The Dress Up Gang melds together bits and pieces of the past and present, creating a slightly surreal journey through ups and downs of life. From the past, there's old-time sound tracks (Zoot Suit Riot lol), 80's sitcom interaction styles, obscure movie references straight out of the Victorville Film Archive and many more.
Ironic normalization of hard drug use, peeing in pools, texting your friends things you feel like you can't say in person, this show runs the gamete, and is uniquely relatable for non-simps, in their 20-40s.
I had more laugh out loud moments with this show than Barry and Silicon Valley combined, and I've only watched 2/3rds of the episodes. There are several subtle interacting layers of humor from the music to the camera work to the situations to the words and actions of characters to the ultimate subversion of the obvious.
It streams on the TBS app or YouTubeTV. If you like anything Abso Lutely, this show will strum your guitar, . I can admit it may not be the best for very "literal" people, but for me, the best show I've seen in a while.

No laugh tracks or gimmicks, just perfectly timed and delivered humor. I can't tell you how many times in the past week I've made myself laugh out loud just thinking about a line from the Dress Up Gang.
A nice change of pace. Both funny and heartwarming, characters grow on you.
Hope to see a 2nd season.
Hope to see a 2nd season.
Where do I even start? This is a project I had to wait years to see in it's final form. Not a single episode disappoints in it's down to earth off-beat humor that speaks to the soul of every comedic philosopher who asks the world: "Why is this funny?" The Dress Up Gang answers: The man-child is not what makes us laugh. It is the process of growth from child to man that is universally funny. The life lessons that both Donny and Cory teach each other in each episode are touching, yet profound. Thank you for this masterpiece.
