I have been getting tired of movies using tired story limes, being overly political, or using superheroes. This movie was a good one for its originality, intellectual engagement, and damn good acting. There were no superstars, so the movies was not about the actor, it was about the story. Weaving in the conspiracy theories without making it silly was just plain good writing. The limited use of CGI made it even more about the story - not the CGI.
Now, the music was fantastic! This movie does not call for bombastic themes, and Mick Rossi wrote some great music. The music never gets in the way, and, sometimes, you don't even notice it because it is doing what music in a movie should do, adding to the story being told. Some of it may seem very minimalist, but when you listen closely, you hear the intricacy with the simple. Rossi's music sounds like no one else - he has a unique sound and a great sense of what works and where it works. I have been sick of what Netflix and Amazon have been showing, and there are no good movies coming out of Hollywood, so this was a welcome breath of fresh air.
