- Construction boss Gabriel Cauvy lives with his wife and daughter in a picturesque village in Brittany, France. A mysterious car accident has bizarre circumstances and the search for the truth is more dangerous than he could have imagined.
- Gabriel Cauvy, his wife Rebecca and their daughter Luna, lead a peaceful life in Sainte-Lune a tranquil seaside resort in Brittany. When Rebecca dies in a car accident, their whole life collapses around them. Suicide or accident? Gabriel refuses both hypotheses. Particularly as there's a mysterious individual on the prowl.
- In the police station, Solène surprises an intruder trying to steal Rebecca's file. Meanwhile, threatened by the mysterious stranger in the Mercedes, Iris has only three days to find the 60,000 euros that Rebecca had to pay him. Luna overhears a strange conversation.
- Anne's body is fished out of the harbour. Accident? Solène is doubtful. As Gabriel continues his investigation into Rebecca's death, he's intrigued by Iris' and Denis' behaviour. And then there's someone called Alain, whose name appears out of nowhere in the list of calls on his wife's mobile.
- Finding the 60,000 euros amongst his wife's belongings, Gabriel realises that she was involved in some sort of illegal activity. As he manages to get Iris to confess, the mysterious prowler in the Mercedes contacts him: if he doesn't get his money back he'll go after Luna.
- Pascal saves Gabriel from the flames, but doesn't escape his fury: he's found counterfeit equipment amongst his things and orders him to leave the company. Destouches is found dead in his shop. Solène summons Gabriel to the crime scene, certain that he's holding back information.
- Théo's murder revives the case. The initial evidence seems to incriminate Pascal, who no doubt wanted him silenced. Gabriel hopes that recent events will persuade Solène to take up the investigation, but she now seems to believe it was an accident. Gabriel has to continue his combat alone.
