Dr. Pietro Shakarian’s Article on Anastas Mikoyan and Nationality Policy Reform Published in “Europe-Asia Studies”
Pietro A. Shakarian, research fellow at the Centre for Historical Research at HSE – St. Petersburg, published a new article in the journal Europe-Asia Studies, entitled Towards a More Perfect Union? Anastas Mikoyan and Nationality Policy Reform in the Soviet Union, 1954–1964.
HSE University Welcomes New Members Hired Through International Recruiting Procedures
In December 2024, HSE University welcomed successful candidates for tenure-track positions and postdoctoral fellowships. This year, the university strengthened its teaching and research teams with 39 international faculty members, each holding a PhD from leading international institutions such as Maastricht University, the University of Pennsylvania, École Polytechnique, Xi'an Jiaotong University, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Hunan University, and many others.
Dr. Pietro Shakarian on Armenian Studies in St. Petersburg
On 20 July 2024, Pietro A. Shakarian, postdoctoral fellow at the Centre for Historical Research at HSE in Petersburg, presented at the International Armenological Congress at the Matenadaran in Yerevan. Dr. Shakarian’s talk was entitled “From St. Petersburg to Syunik: Advancing Armenian Studies in Russia’s Northern Capital”. The presentation explored the current state of historical-scientific studies related to Armenia and the Caucasus in St. Petersburg.

“Toward a More Perfect Union”: Dr. Pietro Shakarian on Anastas Mikoyan's nationality policy reform in the USSR
On December 2, Dr. Pietro Shakarian presented his paper “Toward a More Perfect Union? Anastas Mikoyan and Nationality Policy Reform in the USSR, 1954–1964” about the role of A. Mikoyan in the formation of Soviet national policy after the death of Stalin in the framework of the research seminar held by the Center for Historical Research and the Department of History.
