An excellent condition army trench or general purpose knife, with contoured, unmarred,  wood grip fastened with three rivets, and scored with eight slanting grooves on each side for a more secure grip. The guard is steel, with slightly down-turned quillons. The blade is double edged, spear-pointed with ricasso rising to a point that extends to the tip in a median ridge. Smooth bright metal overall. Clear markings with the German eagle on one side and “MI219 / BUNDESWEHR / CHINA” on the other. This comes complete with original green leather and metal scabbard with flat fastening stud on one side, riveted belt loop and snap fastened retaining strap. These are sometimes marketed as Cold War knives carried by West German troops guarding the border with East Germany. Given the manufacture in China, we expect they would be more recent. This is essentially like new.  [SR][ph:m]
