Canoe Themed Birthday

My oldest turns six today and wanted to go canoeing for his birthday celebration!  It was 99* and off-the-charts humidity, but everyone was excited for the adventure.  Well, maybe not everyone…

The novelty of the trip wore off very quickly for Zephy.

Beth….loving it…Asher thrilled…Zephan…are we done yet?

My poor baby wasn’t up for such a long day of adventure and slept a good 45 minutes in the bottom of the canoe!

We saw many beautiful mansions along the creek and I knew some of you would appreciate looking at the lovely covered bridge.
Asher asked for canoe-themed cupcakes and I was really hoping I could pull it off.  In keeping with the theme of our adventure, I made a life preserver, fish, canoe, flower, and oars.

The frosting is vanilla buttercream topped with marshmallow fondant.

This little fishy was Asher’s favorite.  Swedish fish just happen to be his favorite candy!

My baby was thrilled with his entire birthday, and I was thrilled at how easy it was to put together!  Sometimes just celebrating as a family is incredibly special!  Happy Birthday Asher!
