O'er which his grain is going.
The lying tempter would persuade
There's no relief in heav'n;
And all my swelling sins appear
Too big to be forgiv'n.
Nen I got out there, an' nen
I runned some--an' runned again
When I met a man 'at led
A big cow 'at shooked her head.
And every flower in shaded nook,
Speedwell and violet,
Cried, with a wonder in their look—
So big, and dreaming yet?
The lying tempter would persuade
There's no relief from heaven;
And all my swelling sins appear
Too big to be forgiven.

At the close of a woful day,

In death and silence lay.
