Bayesian-motivated tests of function fit and their asymptotic frequentist properties

Eubank and Hart (1992) and Aerts, Claeskens and Hart (1999) have studied the so-called order selection test in the contexts of regression and general likelihood models, respectively. A nonparametric Bayesian goodness-of-fit test has been proposed by Verdinelli and Wasserman (1998).

Usage in poetry
De hoop, de vrees, de zoete smart,
't Is al voorbij als droombedrog:
Slechts klinkt aan mijn gestorven hart
De keten nog!
Ek voel, as ek hier moedersiel
Alleen so by die vuurherd sit,
Wat jy nog vir ons nasie is--
En kyk, my hart kom weer in lid!
Thear was slayne, withe the lord Perse,
Ser Johan of Agerstone,
Ser Rogar, the hinde Hartly,
Ser Wyllyam, the bolde Hearone.
"Yet will wee spend our deerest blood,
Thy cheefest harts to slay;"
Then Douglas swore a solempne oathe,
And thus in rage did say;
"He doe the best that doe I may,
While I have power to stand;
While I have power to weeld my sword,
Ile fight with hart and hand."
O, sprak in 't eind dit hart niet meer,
Nu toch geen hart zich 't mijne wijdt!
Maar toch, al mint mij niemand meer,
Ik min altijd.
