Maybe it was just too easy. After all, MLB Network is owned by Major League Baseball and Topps is an official partner. The two have partnered to create a special series of trading cards for the All-Star Game in Arlington of the on-air talent in a heroized fashion.
The printed cards feature Harold Reynolds, Greg Amsinger, Lauren Gardner, Robert Flores, Lauren Sheahdi, Mark DeRosa, Yonder Alonso, Chris Young, Brian Kenny, and Intentional Talk’s Siera Santos, Ryan Dempster and Kevin Millar.
The cards will be distributed at the MLB Network/loanDepot photo activation as part of the All-Star Fan Village. They are available from Saturday, July 13th through Tuesday, July 16th.

No, you don’t get a story from Harold Reynolds about playing at the Kingdome, but each pack contains 10 cards. They will distribute one to each fan who takes a photo at its activation each day.
If you’re a collector, signed copies of the cards available in Topps’ Update release this fall after the All-Star Game.
“With the changing demographic of baseball fans skewing younger, it has become paramount to find new ways to engage with both the casual and hard-core viewer,” said Josh Lite, MLB Network’s VP of Promotional Media Strategy. “Facing this challenge, we teamed up with our longtime partner at Topps, and decided to heroize our MLB Network broadcasters in a new and unique way that we believe will help drive awareness and engagement, while positioning our talent as best-in-class. And with the QR code on the card, our vision is to extend the fan experience by giving fans insight into who MLB Network is and what we’ve built over the last 15 years.”

On the digital side, a QR code is available on each card that allows fans to see a comic book story highlighting the story of “The Stars of MLB Network.” It hasn’t been released to the press but maybe Amsinger uses his superpowers to ace his audition tape!
“Baseball cards are part of the fabric of our game, so this is really cool<” said Intentional Talk’s Siera Santos. “They were very generous with their artistic renderings, I think they maybe flattered us a little too much.”
