FADE IN:
EXT. SPACE
A star cruiser drifts silently toward a large armada of alien ships.
As the cruiser comes closer we can see it’s
old and battle damaged.
EXT. SPACE
On the ship’s hull the name Poseidon
is written in large black lettering, numerous turrets on the hull imply that this vessel is a battleship.
All weapons on the Poseidon
are aimed at the waiting alien armada.
INT. POSEIDON BRIDGE
The ship’s crew is human, all dressed in futuristic military uniforms.
Everyone is focused and tense because a large
scale assault is eminent.
INT. POSEIDON SHIP HANGAR
A small fighter ship sits alone in a narrow space awaiting launch. To the side of the ship is a hovering apparatus similar to traffic a light, that is, if traffic lights
hovered in mid air.
INT. POSEIDON LAUNCH BAY
The red light shines brilliantly and the ship thrusters begin to warm as a faint glow emanates from deep within them. The light quickly proceeds to yellow and from there wastes no time changing to green as this happens the ships thrusters become fully alight and the moment the light
flashes green the ship launches within the blink of an eye.
EXT. INVADER TERRITORY
The ship exits the hangar and it is soon revealed that
similar crafts are exiting from other hangars, from a
multitude of capital ships. All the ships move at great speeds and not long into their respective flights they pass through a blue grid based force field.
2.
EXT. INVADER TERRITORY
The ships clear the force field and are immediately
bombarded with plasma based projectiles. The ships begin dodging the innumerable volley of the enemies fire, most of ships are able to evade the onslaught, but there are a few that are not as fortunate.
EXT. INVADER TERRITORY
Those who were not met their ends in an array of spectacular explosions. The majority of the ships continue to advance dodging enemy fire, the camera swings around behind the ships and the first visual of the enemy threat comes into view. The enemies are aliens and these aliens are in very tight regiments and rows that seem to stretch out in all direction for what looks to be infinitum.
EXT. INVADER TERRITORY
The ships press forward undaunted, not to be intimidated by the overwhelming odds in which they face. They dodge the never ending waves of enemy fire as they close the distance, the camera zooms in on the original ship again just as it breaches the enemies multilateral front line.
EXT. INVADER SPACE
When the ship gets inside the enemies front line it breaks apart by design two ships fly away from the main body, so one ship becomes three and in the distance other ships are going through the same transformation. The camera focuses on the main body and peers into the cockpit.
INT. STARFIGHTER COCKPIT (INTERCUT AS NEEDED)
Inside a man appearing to be half a decade removed from his middle years scans the battlefield before he begins to bark orders.
INT. STARFIGHTER COCKPIT (INTERCUT AS NEEDED)
COMMANDER ZAVIS JAXON
Alright let’s keep this tight, no
show boating, no stat padding and
for the saviors sake no displays of
reckless abandon, please just one
sortie without reckless abandon.
3.
EXT. SPACE
One of the ships that broke away from the main veers off wildly into a blanket of enemies.
INT. STARFIGHTER COCKPIT (INTERCUT AS NEEDED)
PRIVATE JARDON MADDOX
You’re going to have to pardon me
commander, but reckless abandon is
the only abandon I know.
COMMANDER ZAVIS JAXON
Private Maddox get back here, you
know that wasn’t the point.
EXT. INVADER TERRITORY
Private Jardon Maddox ignores Commander Jaxon and continues deeper into the gut of the enemy, the left side of the
cockpit window flickers and screen comes up and bares the visage of young man no older than twenty - five.
SERGENT BRAX MATZEN
Commander we cant leave that idiot
alone.
Commander Zavis Jaxon shakes his head slightly and rubs the bridge of his nose with his index finger.
COMMANDER ZAVIS JAXON
Go, make sure he doesn’t get dead.
SERGENT BRAX MATZEN
Can’t guarantee that
commander, I might be the one
who gets him dead.
COMMANDER ZAVIS JAXON
(musingly)
As long as it’s you and not the
invaders I don’t care.
With that Brax blasts off in pursuit of Jardon. Commander Jaxon continues flying forward and the invaders seem to truly go on forever, Commander Jaxon looks left then right.
COMMANDER ZAVIS JAXON
Okay if that’s all the
insubordination for the evening can
we act like this is some sort of
military action?
4.
A resounding yes sir
comes through his comm as if the rest of the pilots responded at once. The remaining ships all turn upward at once and blast off. Private Maddox swerves in and out of the invaders destroying them with ease.
EXT. SPACE
An invader pops out in front of him, but this didn’t
surprise Private Maddox like it would a normal person. He knew two things one he was one of the best pilots in the corp.
And two, he knew that Brax was hot on his ass. With
this information Private Maddox decided it was highlight reel time he killed his thrusters and pulled back on his controls, his ship stopped cold mere feet from a head on collision with the invader, the ship slowly flipped
backward, completed it’s flip and leveled out.
EXT. INVADER SPACE
Just below Jardon’s ship destroys the invaders causing a beautiful explosion. Before the explosion could reach it’s apex Private Maddox kicked his thrusters back on full force and was gone before he could get caught up in the
ball.
Brax flies directly through the dissipating
explosion, gaining all the while on Private Maddox, who continues to take out invader after invader with relative ease.
INT. STARFIGHTER COCKPIT (INTERCUT AS NEEDED)
SERGENT BRAX MATZEN
(unbridled anger)
What the hell is wrong with you?
PRIVATE JARDON MADDOX
My fault dad, what ya gonna do put
me on punishment?
A grimace of pure anger envelops Brax’s face as he closes on Jardon.
PRIVATE JARDON MADDOX
(tauntingly)
I tell you what you catch me and I
just may let you. But we both know
that’s impossible right?
5.
EXT. INVADER TERRITORY
Private Maddox flies straight down and Brax follows suit, they both destroy alien invaders, almost as an after thought to their game of cat and cat sized mouse. The path of
destruction continues as Brax and Maddox come through
playing their sick game of tag and it’s not as if the aliens were standing still taking it betwixt the eyes like so much bovine, they were trying to destroy them as well, it’s just those two are that good.
EXT. INVADER SPACE
Brax continues to chase Maddox through the throngs of aliens and they eventually purely by coincidence reconvene with the rest of their battalion, they actually fly directly past Commander Jaxon.
EXT. INVADER TERRITORY
Commander Jaxon sees them clearly, like they were flying through mercury and he fires at an invader just ahead of them to get their attention.
INT. STARFIGHTER COCKPIT (INTERCUT AS NEEDED)
COMMANDER ZAVIS JAXON
(dead serious)
Enough you two finish that later
it’s time to do what we came out
here to do!
All is silent no one dares speak after hearing that tone come from Commander Jaxon.
COMMANDER ZAVIS JAXON
Now fall in!
They do as they’re told and fall back beside Commander Jaxon and reunite with his ship,
