That Star Spangled Banner

About this ebook
The Bestselling Children's Book about "The Star Spangled Banner"
Ten-year old author, and native Marylander, Gabrielle Stewart, tells the story of the danger, dedication, and bravery behind our national anthem and the special role Maryland played in saving the nation during the almost forgotten War of 1812.
The song we sing to celebrate America is now over 200 years old. Gabrielle not only recounts the story of how the song was written, but explains how important the American Flag was to the song's author, Francis Scott Key, and how without the bravery of Marylanders, we not only wouldn't have our national anthem, but our country might be entirely different.
This well-researched and easy to read book is a great gift for anyone who loves American history and wants to know more about how the Star Spangled Banner came to be our national anthem. The fact that the author is a 10-year old student also gives inspiration to children to share their creativity, learning, and research with others.
Get this book. Share it with the children you know who love great stories and want to learn more about the song they hear at the opening of every sporting event.

Gabrielle Stewart is a brilliant teenage girl who, just like Codi, wants to become someone great one day. She is the president of two chapters of the National Society of Black Engineers: the chapter at her school and a local chapter at the Patriots Technology Training Center. Very active in her school community, she is the head of the National Honor Society's In-School Committee and an engaged participant in several clubs in school, including Girls Who Code, International Thespian Society, and the Theatre Department. The recent recipient of the Maryland Affiliate Rising Star of the National Center for Women & Information Technology Award for Aspirations in Computing, she is also an AP Scholar. Gabrielle is a high school senior in a Science & Technology program who simultaneously takes college courses at a local HBCU. She plans to major in computer science. It is her desire to inspire youth to pursue STEM courses and careers. To that end, she has taught coding workshops at a local elementary school and hosted STEM games for underprivileged youth. In addition to "Codi Can Code and You Can Too", she is also the author of "That Star Spangled Banner: The War, the Flag, and the National Anthem", written when she was just ten years old.

O Say Can You See
2014 was the 200th anniversary of our nation’s national anthem. So this is a great year to research and write about our national anthem. In addition, as a native Marylander, it makes me proud to know what an important role the state of Maryland played in our national
