Travel Tips
Traveling is just about the most exciting thing one can do. There are few greater pleasures than visiting foreign places for the first time. I don’t know of a better way of learning about world history and geography and cultures of other nations, than by traveling and learning first hand. Knowledge gained from books can never be compared to knowledge gained by sight and sound.
First time travelers often wonder what they should take with them and are anxious that they will not have sufficient clothing or toiletries with them. If you don’t want to be bogged down with heavy bags wherever you go, then always remember less is more when packing and only take the essentials with you.
A good tip to remember is to try and not make it too obvious that you are a tourist when visiting in foreign countries, as this makes you a target for crime. If you are loaded with luggage you will not be able to conceal this fact, whereas if you are carrying a small bag you can blend in easier with the locals. Never carry your wallet in your back pocket as you will be inviting a thief to help himself to it. Rather invest in a body pouch that can be concealed under your clothing or jacket or better still keep a small wallet in your top pocket where it is not obvious.
Many restaurants and cafes in Europe and in other continents, charge tourists more than they do the locals, as do taxi services, so the better you blend in the better it will be for your finances.
Try not eat at the regular tourist haunts, as the prices there will be higher than the where the locals eat, a couple of blocks down the road. You will also be able to see what the locals like to snack on. If you are low on cash remember that if you stand and drink your coffee in Europe it will cost less than when you sit down.
It’s always exciting traveling overseas as we tend to
