About this ebook
We delve into The Zhuangzi(In English, 2023 Revision).
Prologue.
Zhuang Zhou, commonly known as Zhuangzi, was born in Meng in the state of Song during the Warring States period. Meng is currently located in the north of Sang-gu, Hanam Province. The estimated dates of his life are approximately 369-286 BC. This was the era of King Hui of the Yang dynasty and King Seon of the Qi dynasty. After working as a manager at Chilwon for a while, he did not hold any official positions for the rest of his life. Instead, he devoted himself to writing and interacted with the prime ministers of his time. In a turbulent and unstable era, he viewed the world through the lens of Taoism. His ideas, which diverged from conventional reality, had a significant influence on Chinese culture.
Emperor Xuanzong of Tang canonized the Zhuangzi as one of the Chinese classics and bestowed upon it the honorific title \'True Scripture of Southern Florescence\'. The philosophy of Zhuangzi also had a profound impact on Zen Buddhism during the Tang dynasty, leading to its flourishing. It is believed that the original Zhuangzi consisted of fifty-two sections, but only thirty-three sections by Guo Xiang (AD.252-312) have been reported. Guo Xiang of the Northern Song Dynasty divided it into seven sections called \'inner chapters\', fifteen sections called \'outer chapters\', and eleven sections called \'miscellaneous chapters\'. The \'inner chapters\' provide a descriptive overview of the themes of each chapter and are considered the purest form of Zhuangzi\'s philosophy. On the other hand, the \'outer and miscellaneous chapters\' provide more detailed insights into the disciples.
There is a saying that the Zhuangzi is a commentary on Laozi\'s teachings, but this is an exaggerated denunciation. The Huainanzi, an ancient Chinese text, treats the philosophies of Laozi and Zhuangzi as unique thoughts within a philosophical system. Zhuangzi reinterprets the Tao proposed by Laozi in the form of stories, presenting it in a new way. Through his writings, he embodies Laozi\'s ideas and awakens the concept of the Great Integrity.

1. The Kun and the Peng in an empty abyss.

We delve into the Zhuangzi in English.
In the north of an empty abyss, there is a fish called the Kun.
It is so huge that I do not know its size, possibly spanning thousands of li.
It undergoes a transformation into a bird known as the Peng.
The wings of the Peng are of indeterminate size, possibly spanning thousands of li.
When it ascends and takes flight, its wings cover the sky like clouds.
With the onset of seasonal current changes, it embarks on a journey to the southern empty abyss, known as the Celestial Lake.
In the ancient texts of Marvels, we find descriptions
of how, when the Peng soars towards the southern empty abyss,
the waters within a three thousand li radius are disturbed,
as it conquers the whirlwinds and ascends to a height of ninety thousand li,
beginning a six-month flight amidst strong gales.
My commentary.
One line a day, what I read is like this.
By cultivating the body and mind, you behold the Great Integrity.
The northern empty abyss represents nature,
serving as the origin of the mind.
The southern empty abyss serves as the foundation of the body and represents life.
The Kun and the Peng symbolize vitality, embodying the essence of the living wind as fundamental energy.
They move 21,600 times each day, signifying the continuous flow of vital force.
Through refining the vitality between body and mind, one can cultivate a harmonious connection.
Engage in playful exploration while nurturing both the body and mind.
2. The Heaven is subtle.

A heat haze shimmers above the fields as bits of dust are carried by living creatures.
The sky appears blue, but I contemplate whether it is truly its inherent color
or simply an outcome of its endless distance.
When soaring high above, objects seem unchanged to the sky.
My commentary.
One line a day, what I read is like this.
By moving autonomously, you behold the Great Integrity.
From a human perspective, the ground appears below, yet it seems to float in the air.
The atmosphere influences weather patterns, causing changes in the environment.
Humans possess robust vitality and are capable of autonomous movement.
Plants, on the other hand, rely solely on sunlight and moisture for their survival.
Water serves as the fundamental substance and principle underlying all things.
By compressing the yin and condensing the energy within the heavens, a mirror-like effect is formed.
Sunlight reflects off this heavenly lens and radiates towards the Earth.
As sunlight interacts with nitrogen and oxygen in the atmosphere, the shorter wavelength of blue light scatters, giving the sky its blue color.
It is worth noting that the entire universe consists of approximately 68 percent dark energy and 27 percent dark matter.
The nature of the Heavenly realm is intricate and subtle.
3. Great wings with enough depth with wind.
1zA Happy Excursion, A fish changes into a bird.

If the water is not sufficiently deep, it will be incapable of supporting large ships.
Pour a cupful of water into a depression in the yard, and even small debris will float like boats. However, if you were to place the cup on level ground, it would remain stationary.
This occurs because the water is shallow while the vessel is too large.
Similarly, if there isn't enough depth of air, the wind will not be able to sustain great wings.
Therefore, for the Peng, a depth of ninety thousand li is necessary to have the wind beneath it.
Only then can it gracefully glide upon the wind without encountering any obstacles, directing its gaze towards the south.
My commentary.
One line a day, what I read is like this.
By illuminating the light of wisdom, you behold the Great Integrity.
Prana represents the vital force that connects the body and mind.
Cultivate both your body and mind simultaneously, allowing the light of wisdom to shine forth.
Let the golden flower of enlightenment blossom within you.
Expand your wings widely, embracing the profound winds.
Break free from the sea of suffering.
4. A cicada and a young bird.

A cicada and a young bird mockingly exclaim,
"When we exert our utmost effort, we can only manage to reach the nearby elm tree.
At times, we fail to reach even that height and end up falling to the ground.
How then can the Peng soar an astounding ninety thousand li to the south?"
One who ventures into the nearby verdant woods, carrying provisions for three meals, returns with a stomach still full.
A traveler covering a distance of one hundred li must ensure enough grain for a single overnight stay.
A journey spanning a thousand li necessitates gathering provisions for three months.
What understanding can be expected from these two diminutive beings?
My commentary.
One line a day, what I read is like this.
By nurturing the growing vitality, you behold the Great Integrity.
A cicada and a young bird serve as metaphors for our existence.
When consumed by futile thoughts, the field of the mind becomes disoriented, and the body lacks guidance.
To rediscover vitality, one must awaken both the body and the mind.
Vitality flourishes through dedicated cultivation of the body and the mind, acting as the seed of truth.
From this seed of truth, a golden flower blossoms, symbolizing enlightenment and realization.
5. Time flies by.

Limited knowledge cannot match extensive knowledge, just as a short year cannot compare to a long year.
How can one ascertain the truth of this statement?
The morning fungus plant remains oblivious to the cycles of day and night, while the summer cicada remains unaware of the alternating seasons of spring and autumn. They experience only short periods of time.
In the southern region of Chu, there exists a sea turtle named Myungryung, which considers every five hundred years as one complete cycle of spring and autumn.
In ancient times, there stood a magnificent Sharon tree that regarded every eight thousand years as a single cycle of spring and autumn. These are lengthy durations.
