My Devotions and Poems Just for You - Linda Fortner
Happy Birthday
Some cousins are special,
And some are not.
But, lucky you, you fall
In the first slot.
Since you were little,
I’ve always been glad
To have you for a cousin,
Even when you made me mad.
You were so cute with that
Ponytail flipping around,
A cute little smile,
Seldom a frown.
I’m lucky to have you for a cousin.
You see,
You’re much more like a sister
Would be to me.
Happy birthday, Terri.
This is from the heart.
Many more, dear cousin.
I hope we never drift apart.
I’m proud of you and all you do,
Being a good mother and
A grandmother too.
January 24 is a special day
‘Cause you were born.
What more can I say?
Friends
Some friends are old. Some friends are new.
Some friends are more special and will
See you through.
Some friends are funny, and some are not.
Some friends need your help,
As much as you’ve got.
If you are short on friends as a whole,
Maybe you should be a better friend.
This much I know.
You have to be a friend to have a friend.
It is really so.
Hold your friends close to your heart.
They are worth more than gold.
Our church is the best place to meet new friends.
They are truthful and loyal.
They are there for you.
On them you can depend.
Remember each and every day
To be a good friend in every way.
The blessings you get will be your pay.
Lost a Friend
You lost a special friend today.
It’s hard for me to know
What to say.
You’ll miss her laugh, her silly ways.
I know you will think of her
Every day.
But try to remember
The happy times,
How special she was To you.
She was so very funny
And had a good heart,
One of a kind
Through and through.
She would brighten the room
When she entered it.
She could light up the world
With that gigantic grin.
Be glad God gave you a friend
Like her.
We don’t know why things
Like this occur.
But as she would say if she were here,
Things happen for a reason,
Even if we shed a tear.
Few people have a friend like
You two have had.
God gave you this, so don’t be sad.
The memories you have will never leave.
Cherish them close.
It’s okay to grieve.
Remember the good times,
And laugh at the bad.
Be glad for God’s gift
Of this friend you had.
Holidays
The holidays are here again,
A time for love and cheer,
A time for all of us to share,
To show we really care.
Decorations all around and
Smiles
