FOREWORD
For as long as I can remember, I've been the 'neat one' or the 'clean one' or the 'oh my goodness, your house looks like a display home' one (when I was single!).
Coupled with that, when at home, work or at friends' houses, when I do my housework, when I've moved house or I've helped friends move house, I look at things and think, Does that need to be kept?, Why is that being kept?, This can be much neater, or, This could be decluttered and make a much nicer space!
It recently occurred to me that I could share these thoughts in a practical way, and this simple guide is the result of that.
The HOW section will take you through each room with a guide of how to declutter, and the WHEN section suggests stages that occur during our lifetime when it is best to declutter.
All the best decluttering.

DEFINITIONS
House, Apartment, Bungalow, Unit
I will use the term 'house' throughout this guide, but whenever I mention 'house', you can substitute it for the type of domicile you live in.
Room or Section
I will use the term 'room', and for the most part I will be talking about a whole room. But, especially in small apartments, you can substitute it to also mean section.
YOUR DECLUTTER LEVEL
Knowing where you are on the 'Declutter Scale' (if there were such a thing), is a great place to start.
Declutter Level 1
Readers at this level are people like me who are decluttered. However, it might just remind you that there are other people out there in the world who live decluttered lives (so you're not so weird after all). And hopefully there's something in this guide that you can add to your repertoire of decluttering.
Declutter Level 2
Readers at this level, well, you are my primary audience.
Maybe you've come to my guide directly. You've come to the realisation that your house is on its way to, or already has become, a disaster zone and something needs to be done about it. You've actively sought out a guide to help you declutter.
Or maybe you've come to my guide indirectly. In your subconscious you knew your house was, or is, getting out of hand and then, out of the blue, someone mentions this guide and your subconscious tells you that's what you need. Maybe a fellow Declutter Level 2 person gives or lends you their copy. Or maybe a Declutter Level 1 friend or family member has bought this guide for you because they feel you would really benefit from reading it.
