Don’t allow circumstances to move you away from your Goal.

The truth is, you were born with potential. Everyone is born with potential. The environment, circumstances, family, ageing and the Yoke on your shoulder, cannot hinder you from reaching your destiny. Circumstances cannot determine your goal.
Consider the growth of a tree, as even in unfavourable conditions, it continues to produce fruits. If it was possible for a farm boy to become a teacher, author, Reverend, Provost, Motivational Speaker and a founder of a Christian Apologetic Church, then it is surely possible for you to reach your goal too. You are an overcomer and born to excel.
Reading this book will make you broaden your thinking and improve your life. Giving up is not a solution. Living in a resilient way enlightens.
Keep moving forward to your destiny; do not allow any circumstances to hinder you from reaching your goal!

Don’t Allow Any Circumstance to Move You Away From Your Goal
There was a boy who had dreams of becoming a teacher. Unfortunately, he came from a disadvantaged background because his family was very poor and he had no opportunities in life. It would prove to be a long, hard struggle if he wished to develop his potential and make a success of life.
As the tenth son in his family, he grew up in the farm area of Takaneng next to Dieptrieft, where the current president of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, owned a game farm. Life on the farm was difficult, and most of the boys grew up expecting to work as farm labourers. In many cases it was true that, You can take a boy out of a farm, but you cannot take a farm out of a boy!
Life was a challenge for this boy and every day it was a long walk to and from school. Certain incidents stand out in my mind. How can I forget the time when his father kicked him angrily with his boots for bunking classes? His father was determined to make him work hard and achieve well at school, so kept on pushing him.
He was afraid of his teacher, particularly when he forgot to water the garden at school and was threatened with a hiding. His school, Mabula Primary, had only two classrooms although it catered for a number of grades. The one catered for learners from Sub A to Standard Two (Grade 1 to 4), and the other, Standard 3 and 4 (Grade 5 and 6).
Life was never easy, especially for most of those who lived on farms. They were expected to work untiringly for their white masters and live according to baas expectations. This way of life was often unfair, inhumane and extremely degrading.
Life was like a closed book, where there was no access to free education and no consideration of basic needs. Without proper housing, electricity or transport, most of the farm workers’ children found life tough as schools were often a long way away and they had to set out on foot, whatever the weather. This boy did not allow his environment to get him down, but tried to think out of the box. Because he had faith in the Lord, he found it easier to cope with the challenges he faced.
What I liked most about the boy’s mother was that she made it a priority to further her children’s education. His mom prided herself on being better educated than his father, as she had completed Standard Three (Grade 5). She was very angry that her father never gave her the opportunity to study while she was still staying at Lady Selborne.
The family tree showed that there was a complete lack of education in the family. His mother with a Grade 5 qualification was the most highly educated, and the family role model. It was always his mother’s dream to further her education and complete her studies as a teacher, but as a female, she was not allowed to move away from home. She enjoyed singing and wanted to be a music teacher, but it was only through a teaching career that her dream had any hope of materialising.
The boy’s mother maintained her passion for teaching even though she was married to a man who had no formal education. I wish all mothers would feed their children with the same type of motivational food that he received from his mother. In this way the love of education is transferred from parents to their children. This was a clear indication that failure was unavoidable at times, especially when one lacked parental support in education. One’s culture can also have a negative influence on the success of an individual.
Many people believe a woman’s place is in the kitchen. Unfortunately, this mindset often affects the standard of education in our country, South Africa, because there are many women who remain illiterate and dependent on others. This particular woman impressed me by transferring what she failed to accomplish to the next generation, because she did not want to die with her potential still locked up inside. The graveyard is not a place where one can show off one’s talents. It is a place of rest!
Many parents of today make the mistake of buying cars as presents for their children. This is often followed by loss of interest in attending school. Some of those cars can be blamed for premature loss of life as so many young people are involved in road accidents. Too much money given to children and teenagers can end up being spent on drugs and alcohol, which are responsible for destroying the future of many a young man or woman.
Mogotlhwaneng is a village near the villages of Voyentien, Syferskuil and Swartboom. There is a primary school which is named after this village. Although this school catered for the poorest of the poor, it still succeeded in changing the lives of many families. The life of this boy was also changed for the better. He enjoyed moving away from the farm and being in a different environment. In fact it was a bonus to him because the school was surrounded by many villages which were more stimulating than the farm. To him, it was like taking a tree out of a small pot and planting it in the ground where its roots could grow freely, without any limitations. It was like the movement of a ball on a soccer field which could be kicked in any direction by the players.
There was a vast difference between the lifestyle adopted by the families in the villages and his previous farm life. The families were classified according to their level of education and their time of arrival in the village. Their family was classified as bahudugedi (newcomers), but what mattered most was their state of extreme poverty. His mother was a shebeen queen
who was forced to sell traditional beer in order to supplement her husband’s low income. He was employed by the Bela-Bela Municipality as a general worker.
It is interesting to note that it was his mother’s goal to send the boy to school and she didn’t sell beer to buy furniture or improve their living conditions. Surprisingly, the type of the beer she sold was targeted at grannies, not juveniles. It was not always easy to fit into a new environment without being compared, and
