THE Unsuccessful HUNT

Supposed profoundness of Facebook memes is probably overrated, but being a hunter I did pause to ingest the following quote from bowhunting legend, Fred Bear, posted by a friend:

If you consider an unsuccessful hunt to be a waste of time, then the true meaning of the chase eludes you all together.

I generally champion Fred Bear quotes as much as any of us, but here I request some wiggle room by asking if one considers coming home from the woods empty-handed an “unsuccessful hunt,” how does that bode with whatever the “true meaning” of chase infers?
