Lindisfarne’s Rod Clements: “He was a poet”

How did you first meet Alan?

I knew of him a long time before I met him. He was in a band called the Chosen Few, who had been down to London and recorded a single, and I used to go and see them on the northern gig circuit. Then after the band broke up, Alan and Dave Wood, his manager, decided to open a folk club in the Rex Hotel in Whitley Bay on a Sunday night. Although Alan, which I’ve still got.
