Now, I’ve had an idea,’ said Jenny. Liz sighed. Her sister’s ideas had a tendency to involve her doing things that were well outside her comfort zone.

‘Swimming.’

‘Swimming?’

‘Yes,’ beamed Jenny. ‘They’re doing women-only swimming sessions on Tuesdays. We used to love going to the pool, do you remember?’

‘Yes, but that was when we were 14, and it was mainly because you had a crush on that lifeguard.’

‘Not so dreamy when he shouted at you for pretending to drown.’

‘OK, OK, but anyway, it’s next Tuesday at 10am. Come on, it’ll do you good to get out and about after all you’ve been through. We can go for a coffee afterwards at that new cafe on the high street.’

‘The new cafe that does those pancake stacks with all the strawberries and whipped cream?’
