HE was replacing the locks in his parents’ house when, without thinking, he reached for his phone to call his dad to ask where he kept his tools.
Jaco Botha* often called his father for help and advice, but this time he just stared at his phone as the realisation hit him like a punch to the stomach.
His dad would never answer his phone again – and neither would his mom or his sister. They’d all been killed at their home in Rondebult, Gauteng, allegedly by his brother on New Year’s Eve.
“They were brutally assaulted and murdered,” Jaco says. “It’s an image I’ll never get out of my head.”
