Once, I was a surfer.
I’m from Gqeberha – the old PE – so I grew up surfing the Fence, Millers and the Pipe, before graduating to Seals, J-Bay and East Pier, Port Alfred.
I say I was a surfer, because I’m now in Bryanston, Johannesburg, working corporate gigs. Marketing strategy, comms, business messaging… I won’t bore you with that, but I’m 600km from the ocean, so my surfing career is over like Myspace, Blackberry and rock bands in the Top 20.

But hey, I gave that surfing thing a full shake. SA champs, varsity champs, Vic Bay, and surf trips all over. I hit up Mexico, California, the North Shore, Europe, Australia, Fiji and a bunch of Indian Ocean islands. Surf trips were my thing.
