The King and Queen Consort began a busy week of engagements with a visit to Colchester Castle in Essex to help the former town celebrate its new city status.
Their Majesties were greeted by flag-waving schoolchildren and a guard of honour, with one girl handing the monarch a drawing of him bearing the words “Best King”. Colchester was the Roman invaders’ first capital in Britain
